This is an odd one, and I've managed to resolve it, but in the interests of helping the community, I'd like to post my solution.
I would appreciate a clarification as to why the software crashes once it hits 8GB of system RAM usage, when I have 64GB installed.

I only started encountering this issue yesterday, everything was working fine beforehand, and I hadn't updated or changed anything (no Windows Update, no driver updates of any kind). nVidia Driver was version 577.00 GeForce Game Ready Driver.
I've been running this on a Lenovo Legion 5 Laptop with the following specs:
Operating System: Windows 11, Version 24H2
CPU: Ryzen 7 5800H
GPU: nVidia Laptop 3060 (6GB VRAM)
RAM: 64GB (2x32GB DDR4-3200)
Storage: 1TB SKHynix HFS001TDS9X084N NVMe SSD, 2TB Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus NVMe SSD
External Storage: 2TB Micron CT2000X6SSD9 NVMe SSD (USB-C at 10Gbps)
I've had no problems before with the exact same workflow: Source files on external drive (Micron 2TB), project rendering to C: drive (SKHynix 1TB). Yesterday, I started getting crashes. I opened Task Manager on an external monitor to watch for bizarre behavior to see if I could find a root cause. I noticed that as soon as MAGIX Video Pro X hit 8GB of RAM usage, the software would become unresponsive. It doesn't grey out like most programs would during a freeze, it just doesn't let me interact with it in any way, forcing me to End Task in Task Manager to get it to close.
For added context, once I'm finally able to complete assembling a project (which can take hours with all the freezes), actually burning a Blu Ray ISO file works just fine. I haven't had any hangs or crashes during the actual burn part of the process, just during everything beforehand.
Steps taken to remedy the issue:
Updated nVidia drivers to 580.00
