Video Resolution Confusion

Hi,

I'm very confused how to handle video resolutions in Edit Pro.

My workflow is I'm given videos on a number of DVD's which I then need to restore and output as a DVD compilation. Whilst doing this I may export some videos as movie files during testing.

So, my source material is invariably 720x576, 25fps, 4:3.

When I come to export the video, if I select MPEG2 then my only options are "HD quality 1" (1280x720) and "HD Quality 2" (1920x1080). How do I tell it I want standard 720x576 ? If for testing I select MPEG4 instead then the only option is "DVD quality" 720x576.

In the project/movie settings I have it set to "PAL 4:3 (720x576,25fps)" so why is this option not available for exporting to MPEG2 ?. If I change this to e.g. 768x576 and then try to export to MPEG4 i still only have the option to export as DVD 720x576 !?!?!?!?

Am I missing any export options ? I can't seem to find how to specify bitrates etc; the source videos are of very variable quality so it is better to spend more bits on the better quaity videos at the expense of the lesser quality videos.

D'oh!, OK, I'm a (partial) muppet, I was using the [Export] button and had totally missed the File->Export Movie menu !

The only qustion that remains is how I set the bitrate for each movie used in a DVD compilation. In fact I can't find any DVD quality settings at all (had a good look though the menus this time :-) ). I usually switch of two-pass encoding when doing tests and only switch it back on for final rendering.

Is it possible to create a DVD where the source files are already in a DVD-compatible MPEG2 file i'.e. won't get re-compressed when making the DVD ?  That way I could prepare the files using whatever bitrate was appropriate for each file and it would also make DVD rendering faster should I only be changing one of the constituant videos or just testing the menus.
