This is because .avi is a video format which takes much "space"... (about 20x that of .wmv or .mpeg)

But it has some advantages... compatibility with most of media players or dvd players.

Which player do you use? VLC player usually has no problems.

If you only want to play your video in multimedia players... maybe chose .mpeg4.

AVI is not a format itself, it's a so called "container" that may contain everything, depending on the codecs that were used... So AVI may be huge or small or something in between...

AVI is becoming old fashioned. If you want smaller files, you should use a format that offers efficient compression, such as e.g. MPEG4.

Thank you, I am using Media Player Home Cinema x64 :-) I am also seeking the best format for YouTube uploading, it states, that mpeg4 should be best.
