When MEP 2015 uploades video footage from my iPad/phone some videos are automatically rotated on the story board (the wrong way around) . When turning them back around they don't fit the full screen!
Hi, were the videos from the ihone shot sideways, if so then they will be different on the screen when you import them, and turning them will alter their dimensions which are then going to be different from what you have chosen for our movie, you can change the size of your movie, but if you are to keep the movie in a size / format that will show properly on your television, you may end up croping or shrinking your clips to fit.. More information may help us understand your issue, such as the aspect ratio of the video clips that are sideways, and whether of not they were shot with the phone in vertical or horizontal position, has the phone got settings to allow for this type of shooting, and has it got a facility to re orientate the clips before you import them to MEP, if so have are you using it, I would imagin if you shoot with your phone in the wrong orientation, you will be stuck with the results.
Many thanks. What has happened is that I have shot many iPhone/pad videos of my new baby / young daughter (now). I've taken these clips in the default setting of the phone (whatever that is). I've taken these clips with the phone held the normal way. When importing these clips to Mep 2015 most of the clips after upload are rotated in the preview screen 90 degrees to the left. After rotating them back 90 degrees to the correct way they fit the screen and the image is complete but it fills only one third of the preview screen. This means most of the screen is blank and unsatisfactory. The thing is that some videos filmed in the same way with the same phone are not rotated and fill the whole screen. I paid £10 for the magix man to answer the question and he drew blanks, apart from saying shoot film footage with another orientation. But this doesn't help for the previous videos and doesn't explain the fact that some of them I've taken fill the whole screen anyway!!!
Hi Simon, I don't know of any way to correct the size of those images that now only fill a portion of the screen, the real problem seems to be they were shot at the wrong angle / orientation, hense the narrow image profile, stretching them will only distort them, narrowing the screen will not realy help either, maybe if you made a slide show of them, and then find a way to convert the slide show to a video, wish I knew the answer, my son has iphone and ipad, and all his stuff comes out correctly.
Edit: just remembered, you can get imovie for ipad, not sure about iphone, maybe such an app could cure your problem before importing to a computer, if if you have imovie on a mac, try them in it and see if there is a way to re orientate the clips.
