Viewing file informaton when importing into Magix Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus - (Tags, Comments, Rating)

I am using Magix Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus.

I list important information for video files using their Properties function. Tags, Comments, Rating, etc. have information I would like to see when importing files. I could not find a way to see this information in the "Import" window in Magix. Is it available?

Thank You.

Hi,

The information displayed by MEP's Object Properties window is very limited, It certainly doesn't include the sort of detail I think you're describing. In the absence of more specific information from you, I assume you mean tags such as artist, title, composer, album/series, episode, track number, release date, etc? The sort of data you'd expect in music/video library management applications? And other technical data about bit rate, codecs, frame rate, etc, that tools like MediaInfo and GSpot provide? I'm curious why you would want or expect to see all of that in a video editor?

I primarily would like to see the "Tags" section of the "Properties" of video files. I record videos for coaches of sports teams. I don't expect all the teams I record for to use the same library management software that I might use. They do all have access to the files properties, and can filter/sort the tags I place on them. I can put "Johnson; score" in the tag section of the a files properties. Then anyone can use windows explorer to search for all of Johnson's scores for the entire year. If MEP would also display this information, it would be very convenient.

I can see how others could use the "Comments" section in the file's properties. You could make annotations such as "reverse angle" or "best take".

OK, thanks, I broadly see what you're trying to do and confirm that MEP cannot support that in the way you want.

Presumably you use Explorer to add your 'comments for coaches'. The best I can suggest is that directly before importing the clip you copy Explorer > Properties > Summary > Comments to the clipboard. Then, in MEP, open Object Properties with Ctrl+E and paste these in.

If I was doing something like this then I'd probably use my macro program, Macro Express Pro, to automate it, starting after entering the comment into the file's Explorer properties.

However, I may still have misunderstood, because none of the above involves what you've called the "Tags" section of the "Properties" of video files. I don't use them myself, but they cover the sort of media data I listed earlier, whereas your requirement appears to be confined to Comments.
