Hi Al.

The problem seems to be your source file which is not being read correctly within VPX 12. No matter how I try to import the file it only shows up within the editor as a single frame.

Will have another look after I've had some sleep.

Thanks Ray, could you confirm you can't select 20FPS with the default encoder?

I did a restart of my machine for another reason and now I can't even open that file properly in VPX 12. I get only the first frame, as you. It did open OK the first time I tried; that's how I got to try to export it.

MEP 2022 opens the video repeatedly without issue, but no audio appears (probably the PCM).

Oh well, back to converting it with Videoredo first.

I can confirm the default encoder cannot select 20fps which is not surprising as H264 MP4 was never meant to go below 24 fps as far as I'm aware.

The only audio I hear when playing the file in Film and TV is clicking like cine frames in a projector.

VLC player I hear footsteps.

I take it this is security footage?

Ray, yes, it is. I'll have a play with the PVR encoder to see if I can adjust the video and audio codecs.

For anybody else, can VPX 13 repeatedly open this file OK?

Good morning al.

VPX 13 will be able to open the file Al but it will be missing the main concept codec for exporting an MP4 at 20 fps.

The file does indeed open in MEP 2022 without sound. Cannot be exported at 20 fps in MP4 format even if the codec is tweaked.

Can be exported correctly as an avi file but without sound.

The video imports without sound in VPX 13 - AFAIK ADPCM (VOX) is not supported.

Technically the minimum standard framerate for h.264 and h.265 is 24 fps and the default encoders enforce this. As @CubeAce has commented you would have to use the MC encoder.

Depending on the PVR you should be able to change the recording format parameters, the cameras output stream may also be able to be adjusted.

Hi Al.

I also tried using VLC player to convert the file to MP4 with an mp3 audio output and although the clip plays there is still no sound.

However VLC player does play the sound. Now I'm getting very confused.

This is MP2 which, though not on the list of supported audio formats does import into MEP2022/VPX.

Hadn't occurred to me to try John.

Not even sure why Al wants to export to this specific file type and frame rate as the export quality is quite low compared to the original and the file size is larger. Two things I though Al tried to avoid.
