VPX Collage with overlapped next image - 1 frame goes black

A black frame shows up at the end of a collage if an object is placed on a higher numbered track, overlapping the end of the collage. The image below has a 6 image collage with an image added to track 18, overlapping the end of the collage. When I scroll across frame by frame, the preview window goes black at the end of the collage, for 1 frame.

Can someone please confirm this?

I tested this in MEP, no problem.

Workaround is to add the same clip to the next track, trimmed where the black frame occurs. If I slide the image on track 19 (trimmed copy of the one on 18) to the left with the end equal to the object on track 18, no black frame.

Hi John

Did you use a template - if so which one, or is the collage a home brew?

My first thoughts seeing the timeline is that one of the Alpha masks is 1 frame too long.

Yes, I used a slightly modified version of an existing template for the case that you see. I tried the original and still had the same problem. Try the last one on the Collages list ([triptichon]) - [^] 6 Obj. 01 (16:9).

You are right, the alpha masks are 1 frame too long; I should have noticed this. I can't see any reason why there is 1 extra frame. Dragging the end back 1 frame solves the problem, so I'll update my collage.

If you get the same thing, then I'll add this to the list of things for Magix to fix.

This is a framerate issue - at 25 fps PAL there is no blank frame, however if I change the project to 29.97 NTSC and redo the collage, the alpha masks are approx 1/2 frame too long, at 30 fps they are correct.

Using MEP there is also a frame length error with 29.97 framerate however it manifests itself as a small gap.

IIRC this issue came up a while, possibly a couple of years, ago with MEP which was fixed.
