VPX13 New Features - What is actually new?

Hi,

I have VPX12 on my desktop, VXP13 on my laptop and have executed the additional content (I don't think there was anything new).

On the Magix.com website there are several things that are marked as New, but I can't see any difference between VPX12 and 13. Does anyone else?

  • New! 1-click cutting tool with dynamic preview
  • New! New fonts and customizable title templates

Customizable title templates are what?

Also New as per the Comparison Table:

  • Advanced shot match
  • Levels
  • Glow for bright image areas
  • Blur Mask

I don't see anything different from what I have in VPX12.

Does anyone see anything different or new?

About the new Size/Position handles, the New Features page says: "The new handles offer even more control and allow you to adjust both the position and scale of video objects directly in the program monitor." Of course, the old handles did that as well and there was a rotation handle that has been removed.

About the only thing that is new is the "Panorama storyboard with extra-large thumbnails" which allows you to add an audio track. Nice, but how many VPX users use Storyboard mode. How many even know how to get into Storyboard mode as there is no button as there is in MEP (I know how)? Any one?

Marketing loves adding "new, improved, enhanced" text to hype sales..... some things are, but are they worth the cost of the actual upgrade is up to the person. People have a penchant for the word "new" and have to have "new" just to have "new" and say they have "new". Oh, in the comparison link you provided, they compare it to last years MEP, not this years.... which also has Infusion 3....

Me? I'm still using MS Office 2003....yes 2003. 😊

@Reyfox

Hi,

Yes, but usually the new features are actually new. I think that maybe they are looking at what was with VPX12 when it came out, not any features that were added in the interim, which I think is the case. I should check.

If this is the case, it just adds more to my argument about Vegas trying the same trick of interim releases of new features (like the Update Service) and then not having much really new in the next version.

@browj2 the update service (trying to get you in subscription), in Vegas, they said they would release new features as they are ready instead of waiting. But for the perpetual buyers like myself, with the "new" perpetual version you would buy, you will have everything up to that point that has been provided in the subscription and only a year of support/"new". I can live with that.

Is it worth it? At least with a perpetual, you actually own the software, it's cheaper per year, and can watch to see if they (Vegas) actually deliver on the "new" stuff when it's ready, or is it just bug fixes. Also reading the forum when there are "new and IMPROVED" (sarcasm) to see if it actually is.

I think Vegas will have to prove itself, but I still am not a "subscription" type person.

I've been testing the trial version of Vegas 19, and comparing it to Vegas 18. There are new features, but for the most part, I can live without a UI change and the other new additions such as the much requested BRAW. ProRes was already supported. Scene detection I've never used in any software, although the AI has added new and better features. They've improved motion tracking and things like that, including the ability to bring in Mocha Pro tracking info to Vegas tracking. But with the subscription model, text to speech, upload cell video and download to computer and more. So there are new things that are there, but do I need them? For the most part, no. Also if you buy now, you get Boris Title Studio with Edit, in addition with Pro Primatte Studio for green screen. I have both in Continuum Complete 2021. The ONLY reason for me to get Pro Perpetual is Stream....
