Warning for any potential new customers about Magix Movie Edit Pro

Apollo89x wrote on 10/2/2018, 5:22 PM

Just a warning for anyone who is considering purchasing Magix MEP-

The maximum video file size which you can now save is 1.99GB

This never used to be the case, but since the latest software update by Magix, they now limit videos at 1.99GB,
and so be able to save larger size video files you will undoubtedly need to pay more money to upgrade to a more expensive version of Magix.

If you only intend to use Magix for small size videos you will be fine, but anything above 1.99GB and Magix MEP isn't the product for you.

Well, good job my updates ended April/May of this year.

Do you know specifically that restriction started at which version?

This is real bad and a shame, because I been using MEP for more than 10 years now, making home video DVD which are over 4GB. I still am editing last year's holiday, will see if the last update I restrict me in anyway.

Casual home video editing just for FUN since MEP 5.5.4.1 (2006??)

  • MEP 17.0.3.177 & unused Vegas Pro 15
  • Win10 2004 i7-4770 3.4GHz, 32GB, 512GB Nvme, 4TB HDD, Nvidia GTX1070 (26.21.14.3160) & an old DVD writer
  • Amateur video equipment: Sony HDR-CX675, JVC GZ-MG330

I last used MEP 4 weeks ago and everything seemed fine then, however the videos back then all were just under this new 2GB size limit.

Opened up MEP 2days ago and the new update was pushed onto me.

Tried to now export videos but they are all limited to 1.99GB.

Not sure what version of MEP you need to upgrade to now to be able to save videos bigger than 2GB...?

By attempting to export 3 different videos with MEP onto my laptop, but with MEP failing to export any videos which go above 2GB, and instead cutting the file size at 1.99GB, and creating a 2nd new video file for the remaining video footage (above 1.99GB).

What a silly and overhasty conclusion.

So how do you explain this?

The export works in exactly the same way it always did.

You shouldn't blame Magix for your PC problems.
