Good question...

I think that is only something MAGIX support knows to be honest. Maybe they can post here to what those mean.

What type of file are you trying to encode or export to?

You would think they would get the hint after so many posting to various sites have been made trying to determine wihat the error code means....

I am updating an exisiting video that was made in MEP to present a travelog to an international travel club. I didn't keep the original project since I didn't think I would be changing it once I produced it. Alas.

What I am doing is cutting out some existing video segments and replacing them with different pictures, and addition addition title captions. I am keeping the sound intact. Maybe it's more than MEP can handle.

Thanks for your response.

I have done things like this in the past.

I take a video I created for one user group, where I have inserted things such as logos, credits, picture-in-picture effect which required me to "cover" or delete.

First, I load in the video and then edit. Sometimes this is cutting out things like an intro or final credit; since I am going to be replacing these I will first ungroup the audio from the video, now when I edit (cut & delete) I am only doing so to the visual part, thus giving me a space in which to add in the new material.

After each edit, I replace the material with the new information. On the picture-in-picture effect I will add in a different picture or graphic (like a logo) and use the size position tool to mask over the previous graphic... this works relatively easy.

I then remove any out credits and replace them the same as I did with the intro. Once I am done with the video portion, I will then export this out as an .avi file.

I prefer .avi because it to me has a stronger resolution. I view this file on the computer using non-MAGIX software like Windows Media Player. Here I look to see if all my editing is clean. Once I have given the video the thumbs up, I can then load the .avi file into a new project and burn that to disc or export that out to a smaller/sharable format.

I personally have never had an error code error before, but I have read of them. I think maybe the reason the error codes are not on display is that the error could be happening or be part of a third party feature, which I am sure MAGIX cannot disclose for contractual reasons... but that’s just my guess.

My first suggestion is to make sure you have the latest patch for your software. Then, make sure you have the latest burn routines patch. These can help you overcome some difficulties. What I do twice a year is make sure that I have the latest burner firmware from the manufacture of my burner. I then make sure I have the latest burning software from MAGIX... I actually try and update everything, from graphics drivers, sound drivers to other programs.

This is the maintenance that keeps my systems running like clock work... maybe not Swiss movement, but close.

Thanks. I finally got it fixed by exporting the movie, seeing where it bombed, then cutting out a piece at that point and trying to export the movie again. I had 3 or 4 places it didn't like, but after that I was able to export thw whole movie, reload it as a complete movie, and burn the DVD.
