Hi abrogard

. . . . I can't find settings that allow for exporting movie clip selections that run without stuttering. . . . .

We need more information:

  1. Computer specification - processor make/model, graphics card or chipset make/model, audio card or chipset make/model, RAM,  hard drive configuration and sizes?

  2. Windows version and is it up to date?  Press and hold down the Windows key and the R key - in the dialog that opens type in winver and press enter.

  3. Software full name and version number - as found under Help, About . . .

  4. What formats have you exported to that stutter, and what are you playing them with?

  5. What are the project settings?

You need more information?

To tell me the settings that should be appropriate?

Surely all that information would be required only to troubleshoot a deep and widespread problem - inappropriate behaviour on the part of the computer? Behaviour that could relate to anything from RAM to Hard Drive size?

We don't know what's appropriate here yet. That's what I'm asking. What's the appropriate settings? For an input such as I've described?

There isn't any problem to troubleshoot as yet, that we know of. Is there? At this stage it is most probable that I simply haven't set the right configuration for that input.

That's all I'm asking. What settings?

If it doesn't work after that then maybe look further. Or do something else instead.

Anyway - here's some information if you want it:

Windows 10 Professional (x64) Version 1709 (build 16299.371)
3.70 gigahertz Intel Core i3-6100
Seagate Expansion Desk SCSI Disk Device (2000.39 GB) -- drive 1, s/n NA4N7L7E
Seagate Expansion SCSI Disk Device (1000.20 GB) -- drive 3, s/n NA86602D
Seagate Expansion SCSI Disk Device (2000.40 GB) -- drive 2, s/n NA8JLNA5
ST2000DM006-2DM164 [Hard drive] (2000.40 GB) -- drive 0, s/n Z4Z967KL, rev CC26, SMART Status: Healthy

8062 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory

Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 [Display adapter]

Intel(R) Display Audio
Realtek High Definition Audio

MAGIX - Speed BurnR version 7,0,1,27
i  MAGIX Software - Music Maker version 25,0,2,44
   ı i  MAGIX Software - Video deluxe version 16,0,1,22 (64-bit)

Below are the best things I can find to display settings.

I don't remember the formats I've used for export but all were played on VLC.

That's where the question lies: what formats do you suggest I use for that input?

regards, ab.

p.s. I would like to change the screen away from this black business. Can that be done?

From your original question, it sounds like everything you try to export stutters, which is why it is useful to know the performance of your system. I haven't had a stuttering problem with exported files so it is helpful to know what formats you have tried. Have you tried mp4? I export mp4 at 1920x1080 with no problems so 1280 x 720 should be straight forward

@abrogard

I'm pretty sure that John EB will reply to your most recent post but you need to understand that almost everyone posting here to help others is NOT a Magix employee; we are users of the software, just like you. John is a very experienced user of several Magix products, and a forum moderator, so he asks the questions to which we need answers in order to be able to have any chance at all of helping you.

The tone of your reply is, frankly, unacceptable. Please read the forum rules about what is, and what is not acceptable behaviour in this forum.

You may not understand the reasons for John's questions; that does not make them unreasonable, which is what you seem to imply. MEP, like any well-constructed video editing package, has numerous options available to the user; you have given no information whatsoever about exactly what options you have tried.

Your question about changing the screen "away from this black business" is quite simple to answer: you can't, sorry.

. . . . You need more information? To tell me the settings that should be appropriate? . . . .

Yes because

  1. without further information, we have to make assumptions
  2. in making assumptions you may be guided down the wrong path
Seagate Expansion Desk SCSI Disk Device (2000.39 GB) -- drive 1,
Seagate Expansion SCSI Disk Device (1000.20 GB) -- drive 3,
Seagate Expansion SCSI Disk Device (2000.40 GB) -- drive 2,
ST2000DM006-2DM164 [Hard drive] (2000.40 GB) -- drive 0,

Therefore making some assumptions:

  1. The project settings you have posted are correct for the source video - so that is not an issue.

  2. . . . . I don't remember the formats I've used for export but all were played on VLC . . . .

Assuming you still have these on a hard drive you can tells us what the file extension ie mp4, m2ts etc are. If one format is much worse than the others use MediaInfo to analyse that video file and post the results from the Tree view so we can see if there is an issue with the exported file or settings you may have used.

  3. On the assumption that drive 0, the internal hard drive, is the OS and programs disc, and that you are using at least one or more of the external USB drives as working data discs ie the project source files, projects and work in progress are located. Then the program is potentially somewhat crippled for video editing due to slow data transfer rates over USB compared to what you would achieve with an internal hard drive.

  4. The specification of the computer would suggest that it is a laptop - if this is so then, because video editing is a processor intensive activity, you may be experiencing speed throttling of the processor which can significantly reduce its performance.

Also check the following settings which can help improve performance in Movie Edit Pro (VideoDeluxe).

Program settings Import/Export tab -

  • Hardware acceleration for playback
  • Hardware acceleration for encoding
  • MXV multi threading . . . .

all checked

Project settings -

  • Automatically create proxy files is checked

Preview monitor -

  • The blue lightning symbol bottom right is turned on
    and
  • Reduce framerate and Use proxy files are checked, click the ... on the lightning symbol to get to these.

I find that to be irrational, high handed, conceited, impolite, uncalled for, ad hominem, insulting, unwelcome, disgraceful and downright nasty.

Hi,

first if you try to import a file and you can see the preview thai means you can open and use in the program. Soon you use the video clip on the timeline this is the program configuration if you use a clip 1920 x 1080 , 60 frames second and if the program is configured like this no question that is the configuration but if you use a clip may be 1280 x 720 30 frames second , oups.... Question a window open ....

When you export try the standard format like mp4 H.264 and size you need.

give you the time to learn and understand or ask a friend.

Regards,
