What happened to movment option when you right click object in 2022 ve

barry-summer wrote on 10/2/2021, 10:55 AM

In the new version there is no longer a MOVEMENT option when you right click pic or video object.

Before you had zoom or horizontal or vertical movement and I used this feature frequently.

Is there a different shortcut or alternate way to MOVEMENT easily?

Will this feature be brought back in a patch?

Thank you

Hi

There have been significant changes in the Size & Position effects which the movement effects depend on, these effects are now under Effects tab, View & Animation, Movement.

You will find there are significantly more then the 4 that were available on right click of an object, there names have also been changed.

You can assign a keyboard shortcut to go direct to this location as follows:

  1. Select File, Settings, Keyboard shortcuts,
  2. Select the item you want to create the shortcut for
  3. Select the arrowed text box as shown below and press the shortcut you want to use
  4. in this example I used Shift + ` (left of 1 on top row of keyboard) which is an unassigned shortcut.

  5. Click Assign keyboard shortcut then close the dialog.

If you use an existing assigned shortcut you will be warned, and if you do assign it the previous item the shortcut was assigned to will no longer work for the item it was assigned to.

John

First off, thank you for responding so fast and I truly appreciate it.

I must be missing something though.

I've been using this program for well over 10 years, and here's an example of what I'm trying to do.

I have a pic that I want to zoom in or out of. before I would highlight pic on timeline, right click go to movement

and zoom in or zoom out...fast, intuitive, and easy.

Now even with setting up a keyboard shortcut (thanks for tip), the movement templates

are complicated and dont work for all of the options. Linear zoom and fast zoom..nothing happens.

Why can't the right click movement still be there?

I just went back and added a pic and highlighted the pic and none of the zooms worked..the zoom and rotate did.

Some of the effects are cool, but if I just want the pic to zoom in out and move the old method did it so well and fast.

I hope I'm explaining this well. One feature that is a big improvement is the fast rendering, but please bring back right click/movement option.

Thanks for any advice or alternate way to achieve a simple effect.

Appreciate the help. Be well

Hi Barry.

In your earlier posts you mention you had MEP 2017. Have you gone from 2017 straight to 2022?

I remember that feature before the introduction of the infusion engine. Now, if I wanted to do what you want to do I would use the position / zoom tool which has more control than the old method.

Hi Ray

I have just upgraded every year and have the subscription service the past few years. Prior to this new 2022 version, the 2021 version had the right click and movement and I really miss that quick feature.

Are you referring to the camera/zoom option under view/animation?

Thank you.

Hi Barry,

This is what you are referring to, I believe, in MEP2021:

Selecting Pan L to R gives this:

Two keyframes are put on the timeline for the pan. There is a zoom in to 125 to start to keep the image full-screen.

This is a quick access similar to the Camera/Zoom Shot effect and, as you pointed out, has gone. It has also disappeared in VPX13. I don't expect that it will be back, so you will have to use Camera/Zoom Shot or use one of the preset movement effects under View/Animation > Move instead.

You may want to do a few that you like and save them as effects to be reused. Save them under the Move folder and create icons to go with them.

Hi John CB.

Thanks for that. I couldn't remember when it disappeared as it is not something I used much.

I am wondering if that too may explain why older projects sometimes don't close when re-edited and if it has been dropped or just stopped working. Having the command line go missing seems to point to it being dropped but it may be worth asking Magix about.

The effects section John EB pointed to I had tried and found most of them didn't seem to do anything when I used them.

BrowJ2, Cubeace, John

Thanks very much guys for the quick assistance and help again.

BrowJ2, yes, that is correct. The right click and movement was what I used prior to 2022 version.

I definitely will have to try some stuff and thanks for tip on saving effects. While Magix has always been a powerful editing program, I also loved the intuitive functions, so I feel missing this quick way to enhance pics in a slide show

will be missed.

Thanks again to all of you, and stay well
