What is the difference between Samplitude Music Studio 2014 and Samplitude Pro X? They are both DAW's right?

I am looking for a primary DAW. I have used Music Maker for the past few years; but wanted to move to the Samplitude line now. I am confused specifically on the Samplitude Music Studio 2014 line. It seems that this product does an aweful lot. Is it considered a DAW? I'm really trying to determine whether i should buy it or wait and buy Pro X. Any comments, advise would be much appreciated.

Hi

The difference is as follows:

          Samplitude Musc Studio is a recording studio

          Samplitude Pro X is a DAW

However there is a lot of overlap, I think you need to examine closely which features of the DAW, that are not in Studio, you need and make your decision from there.

The 2013/14 Music Makers come with a free copy of Music Studio to try, if that's any help.

As far as I can tell they are basically identical in terms of recording/editing/mixing but more advanced features have been cut to justify the price. It's max sample rate is limited to 96khz. I'm producing an audiobook with it at the moment and it does everything I need editing wise. One thing I've just found missing is side chaining out of the box. However it does support VST plugins, so you might find plugins that can add missing features you require that way.
