There's some kind of red indicator in the upper right-hand corner of the MM2021 program window. Mine shows the number "7" within it. Anyone know what this is about?

I've always assumed it's new items in the store.
New store items? or items needing attention/download...?
When I did the test install into a vm, after installing the basic/free version, the red indicator was there, showing the number "16". After I logged in, and all add-ins automatically d/l'd and installed, the red indicator had disappeared. I didn't count, but all the soundpools, plus instruments, plus SoundForge plus burner sw, probably totalled 16.
All well and good. The thing is, back on my main machine -- with the same soundpools and instruments installed (plus SoundForge) -- the red indicator is still there, showing a count of "7". The only thing I haven't installed here is the burner software. I'm left scratching my head.

If you expand the Media pane you would see that the tab headers are:
In your case it is the Store tab showing the new items.
