when my video has ended the red line still keeps continuing

hi when my video has ended and there is a black screen the red line below still keeps continuing to move along - does this mean that the video is still going and if so how do I stop this. Especially as my video to save is taking 2 hours when the actual video is only about 22 minutes long - I am a little confused :(

Hi, please read this post and give us ALL the information requested there. We currently have no idea about your computer, its components and operating system, nor about the exact program you are using (name, version and variant).

The "problem" of the "red line continuing" is actually not a problem at all. Yes, it does this if you do not press stop at the end of the timeline. This behaviour has no effect whatsoever on the actual export of your video; the export will contain ONLY the footage you have placed on the timeline. But it is worth checking that there is not a stray video or audio object somewhere further along the timeline; if you press the End key on your computer the cursor will immediately move to the end of the last audio or video object. If that point is where you wish the video to end, there is nothing further on the timeline. If there is something further along the timeline you will need to delete it so that your export ends where you want it to.

my video to save is taking 2 hours when the actual video is only about 22 minutes long

I assume by "save" you mean "export"? Actual saving of the project should be very fast; exporting of the finished video CAN take quite a long time. To be able to say whether your export is taking rather longer than might be expected you need to give us precise details about the format of the video file(s) you imported to the timeline (the free MediaInfo utility is invaluable for this purpose, you can post the results of the Tree view to any reply) and the format/type of the export you are seeking to do, e.g. to DVD, file or whatever.

So, much more information from you, please.
