I have the Preview on 2nd monitor but as far as I can see. the only play button is on that monitor at the bottom of the screen.
As my cursor is mostly on the timeline monitor 1, I would prefer a Play button there too.
Any guidance please?

No, I'm afraid that is where the play button is.
But if you left click your mouse on the at the top of the timeline cursor you can then press the space bar on your keyboard to start and stop playback.

Thank you, I just discovered the space bar, although would still like a Play or Remote Bar Play-FF-RW et. maybe on a floating panel like Cubase and others.
You can get rewind or forward wind at normal speed by pressing left or right arrow keys after clicking the Timeline cursor, or single frame advancement without clicking the timeline cursor using the same keys.
You could of course buy a hardware controller with a central spinning control knob and directional control keys. (Shuttle controller)
