Which updates are free of charge after the update service expires?

Hello to all,

I have installed version 18.0.1.89 of Magix Video Pro X (12), but have not used it for a while.
The update service expired some months ago, yet now when I restart I get the message,
that the newest version is 18.0.1.95 and I can "Update now".
Will this update still be free - and is it useful?

I hope I understand correctly: the update to Video Pro X (13) would be chargeable,
the "small" one from no. ...88 to ...95 costs me nothing?

To make matters worse, there is another message after that:
"In this full version you can now download the complete program contents afterwards".
Which contents would that be - and does this download cost anything?

What I want to avoid in any case is that the software stops working before I have paid money.
And actually "update service expired" means that you have to pay from then on .... or am I wrong?

I am not certain about this but I think that, because your Update Service has expired, if you click to "Update now" the update will not install unless you renew that service.

The program installation consists of 3 parts, the Download Installation Manager, the core program and the extra content ie features, functions, templates. transitions, etc - these are all included with the program.

The upgrade is a full new install. During the install process the previous version is removed in its entirety, before installing the upgrade, after which you have to install all the extra content which is the second part of the actual program.

Yes and no.

With the Update Service - if you renew this every year you will get the latest version free, if you let it lapse then you cannot upgrade for free, however the program continues to work.

If you are happy with VPX 12 and it does everything you want there is no need to upgrade, additionally VPX 13 has higher system specification requirements and has a few bugs to be resolved.
