Hi

Welcome to the forum.

. . . . and yes, the soundcard is duplex . . . .

But what make/model is it?

Check the Control Panel, Sound, Playback and Recording tabs for Disabled and Disconnected Devices - these are for the Realtek HDA

Hi

The images suggest you have IDT HD Audio chip in your laptop.

Which 'sound' do you not hear while recording - what has already been recorded/created or the current input being recorded ?

Do you have the IDT control panel installed and is this the setting you refer to when you say "playback while recording button"checked ?

If you do not have this control panel then HP may have 'crippled' the IDT sound drivers  - more info here.

I found some idt install files after searching the computer. It will not let me install, different error messages are popping up. I didn't find any info on the link you posted. What could be causing this? The first time I tried to install, It got all of the way to the part where it asked if I would like to restart the computer. I have restarted it, but, now the only idt files are still the install ones, and I get error messages.

P.S. I have no viruses, I've played with security settings, and I had the Geek Squad guys from best buy take a look at the IDT sound issues it this morning. They were unable to do anything.

Hi

. . . . I didn't find any info on the link you posted. . . .   the link was to direct you to the IDT statement on that page under 'Where can I get an audio driver?' in that they do not supply drivers for your audio card he OEM has to do this.

The only thing I can suggest, as the HP is new, is to contact HP support as this is an issue with the sound card and drivers that they should be aware of, and be able to supply a fix.

I finally figured it out, but I have a slight delay problem now. I fixed it  by opening the control panel and giving commands that way. I still cannot pull up the IDT window to give direct commands though. HP tried to charge me 100$ to "take a look at things."

I had music maker 15 on my old laptop with windows vista and had no latency or delay problems when recording. I'm pretty sure it is not my computer. Is there an adjustment somewhere?

dustinsitzes wrote on 1/28/2013, 12:22 AM

I also adjusted the buffering and sample rate. It changed nothing at all. Still echo/latency.
