why do I get when connecting SONY HVR-HD1000U in Magix Movie edit pro 2013?

bbhagat wrote on 12/29/2013, 6:30 PM

I am using Movie Edit Pro 2013. I have SONY HVR-HD1000U (HDV 1080i/mini DV) camera. When I choose HDV Camera selection in recording source selection, DV recording screen step 1 "select DV device driver:" window shows my SONY DV Device HDV (NTSC)VCR but then within seconds I get error window "could not connect to selected device". I can make a selection DV camera and it works as Microsoft DV camera and VCR.. If use this as DV camera, quality of the movie suffers.

I am using Windows XP and camera is connected by ilink cable.

Movie Edit Pro 2013 version 12.0.4.2(UDC2)

Appreciate any help

Hi

. . . . and camera is connected by ilink cable. . . . .

Is this to a IEEE 1369 Firewire port or to the USB port on your computer?

For full control this should be connected to a Firewire port.

John

Thanks John,

To connect to my desktop PC I am using cable provided by SONY called "iLink" which is a IEEE 1394 data transport bus which is also known as firewire cable.

There are many iLink cables for Sony cameras - mine came with 2 cables, both have the iLink connector for the camera end, but the computer ends are different.

What type of plug is on the computer end and which socket are you plugging it into on the computer?

As I mentioned my SONY  iLink cable has camera connection plug at one end and Firewire plug at the end for computer. My desktop has i5 processor  and  mother board  ( processes HD signals) with fire wire connection plug. So iLink firewire plug is connected with PC motherboard firewire plug.

So far I have not found any solution for this problem with Magix support. Is there software problem with Movie Edit pro 2013?

Hi

Are you sure you have set the camera in it's menu to Output HDV over the I Link and that the tape in the camera has only HDV recorded on it?
