That's the way all programs I know of work ,whether it's MEP, MS Office, or photo editing apps. It's assumed that if you customized something, that's the way you want it to be.
I'd be upset if programs reverted to default every time I opened them.

Thanks David, but I don't remember being requested to customise anything when I installed the Magix software, & the problem has only just occured after many successful projects.
If I load a current project, edit it, then save it, the next time I load it for further editing, I get a "Magix Video Edit has stopped working -----" message. I have to go to HELP & click to restore default settings to get going again. If I load the project & save it without any editing, the problem does'nt occur.

That a whole different slant than what I got from your original post. It could be your magix.ini file has gotten corrupted. Not sure if that's the exact name and I'm not at home so I can't check.
You might try looking in your Magix MEP folder under Program Files for magix.ini or something similar.
Disable it by typing bkup in front of the . or after ini. That way you can just delete the added letters if you need to revert back to it and you don't have to worry about remembering what the file extension was.
After you've disabled the ini file, start up MEP. It will generate a new ini file and, if that was your problem, it should be solved. If not I don't know what is to do.
Following your last suggestion, I found a MovieEdit.ini file which when deleted, the program works well UNTIL I do some editing. Next time I open the project I am back to square one ie the "...Stopped working ..."message appears again.
The odd thing is , if I load a previous project, produced using the same camera & the same software, all works well !!
I am mistified, but thankfully I have now completed the project & am hoping that next time the problem will not reappear.
