why does audio recording stop after 30 seconds?

Hi all. I'm in MM17. My audio recording settings are set to Stereo Mix. To test it, I put something on youtube and then hit record (the round red button). After 30 seconds, it stops recording. How can I get it to not stop automatically? The Creative soundcard driver and software is fully updated. Thanks.

Couple of questions...are you a new user ?  how long have you had MM17 ?  What were you hoping to gain with your teat ?

I don't understand your 3rd question. I'm not new to MM, but I am new to MM17. I've had that for about a week.

Sorry....i never bother with spellchek...my third  question was what aare you trying to accomplish with this test ?

Why did you start with MM17....while its not "old", it sure isn't the newest.

I think I've had MM7, 10, 11 and now 17. I do just a few things with MM and needed an upgrade over 11. I switched computers and couldn't find my disk for 11, so 17 was a good price and it was still one that you support. Do you know why it stops after 30 seconds?

To more fully answer your question, I wanted to see if recording with Stereo Mix would be equal to recording with What U Hear. Stereo Mix shut off after 30 seconds.

Is your End Marker in the default position (16 bars)?  Did you zoom the arrangement out and move the End Marker to a position that would encompass your entire recording before you started it?

ah, now we're getting somewhere. Yes, it shuts off after 16 bars. In previous versions of MM, there was no end marker. It just kept recording until I told it to stop. Is there a way to get rid of that default end marker in MM17? I don't always know how many bars what I'm recording will encompass. Thanks.

"Is there a way to get rid of that default end marker in MM17?"

Not that I'm aware of.  The safe thing to do is to zoom out way more that you'll ever need and set the marker there.  It can always be adjusted back down after you're done recording.

I have versions 10 and 15, and they both have the default end markers.  Perhaps it previously didn't affect recording, but now it does.  Just a guess.  Anyone?

I had MM11 deluxe and there was no default end marker. I guess I'll just move it manually every time I record. That seems like a strange change for Magix to do.
