Why does MEP17 plus export video much darker than the video imagery as viewed in editing screen?

Hi.....

When I edit video in the MEP 17 Pro the picture looks very well balanced. I even check it on 2 screens for variance etc..... still looking good.
However, when I export it to e saved on the coomputer, the reulting video (no matter what the format) is a very dark video.
I know I can correct this uein Ctrl+shift+H and adjust the brightness/contrast/gamma.

My question is WHY is MEP17 changing it in the first place. Surely it should be rendering the video footage as displayed in the editor?

Here is a screen shot of the saved images, both viewed on the same screen.

Here is a screen shot of the video before saving as viewed in the editor......

Any nuggets of genius would be greatly appreciated......

Thanks

Hi

Without knowing the export settings / format you used for the export and the graphics card you have it is difficult to tell.

However from the images you have posted - I would suggest you look at the following :-

  1. The computer screen looks as though it has low contrast - possibly through an incorrect Gamma setting in the graphics card. Check if your graphics card has a seperate setting for video playback as well as a general setting.

  2. Check the Gamma setting for the software you are playing the exported video with - some players can override the video card settings.

Hi

To avoid the possible issues John has mentioned - can you play the movie file on a Smart TV via network or USB stick?

Also check the Brightness tab in Effects settings movies Ctrl+Shift+H has not been altered as this affects the whole movie.
