why does my stereo AVI clip appear on the timeline as .24 seconds long instead of the 30 seconds or so?

Often when I enter a stereo(3D) video clip, only a  tiny part of the clip loads up on the timeline. This happens whether I drag the clip to the timeline or click the add icon. It also happens no matter how much of the clip I set brackets for.

I am using vers.12.0.3.4 of edit pro2013 plus on a system8 computer.

Hi

AVI is not a video file format - it is a container file.  We need to know what video format is inside the AVI file - use GSpot or MediaInfo to analyse a video clip and post the results for us to look at.

Do the videos play OK in Windows Media Player or any other software?

John
