Why does Pro x6 constantly pop up a "User account control" window for "MagixOfa_x64.exe"?

timnich wrote on 2/4/2015, 10:07 AM

When starting the program, and trying other things I get multiple pop up windows as per my question, and then the requested function is not executed. Particularly  the help options, and trying to download extensions for the audio format of my files (Although the online activation for mp4 and mpeg 2 was OK

Hi

There is a topic on the German forum about this - it would appear that something has corrupted the installation.

MagixOfa_x64.exe appears to be the part of the program that connects to the Internet for Flickr, Facebook, Shutterfly, Soundcloud, Vimeo, Youtube etc

Try uninstalling VPX and then run the Magix cleaner available here - failure to do this will not get your system clean of the remnants of VPX.

Re-install VPX and any patches available.

Note VPX is a 64 bit program and may not work with some 32 bit plugins.

I had the same problem. Reinstalling and cleaning did not help.

This is what I have done to make it work.

1) Download the "OFA Dlls für nicht transparenten Proxy" from the customer support in 'miscellaneous downloads' at https://support2.magix.com/customer/en/customer/downloads/tools?title=

2) Unzip the file to a separate folder i.e. on your desktop. The unzipped files will be in an "Online" folder

3) Locate the \Online\ folder on your C: drive under C:\ Program Files \ MAGIX \ Video Pro X6 \ Online. In this folder there will be a "DM" folder and a number of dll files and the MagixOfa_x64.exe file

4) Remove all files from the \Online\ folder except the "DM" folder and place them in a safe location i.e. create a new folder "old_ofa"

5) Copy all files from the newly downloaded "Online" folder and paste them into the \Online\ folder

6) Start the program and downlaoda updates. Everything should work

That seemed to do unstick things, thanks Mark. Tech support also suggested the same approach, but took much longer to answer :(And as its a kown problem its time they updated their online installer)

Still have a problem with audio on lots of clips (clips appear mute) but the ones where it said it needed to download an extension now work, and no more annoying pop ups.
