Why is my preview window dropping out? Seriously Annoying!

weedavy6969 wrote on 10/28/2021, 3:04 PM

I 'upgraded' to Magix Movie Edit Pro 2022 recently ..and since then, have been finding trying to edit in Magix a nightmare to work with on my PC!

I've been trying to work on a Halloween project for the BBC and have had to keep restarting my computer nearly 10 times a night to actually view the active movie in the preview window!!!!!!!

It works after the restart for about a minute then the video playback just stops!!! Can still hear the Audio!

Every night, for over a week from when I did the 'update'...I've had to ...

Restart

Restart

Restart

Restart

It's honestly been the most annoying thing!

I just need to edit , and not fart about changing settings, restarting etc!!

Have attached a video of the problem!

Please help as I only have 2 days to finish the video! !!!!

@weedavy6969

This is the same problem you complained about in your last post. You did not get back with any feedback as to whether the suggestions worked or not.

However if your signature is correct, you have not updated Windows 10 at all since it was put onto your computer. There may be more than a few updates missing that MEP 2022 needs to run. Equally you should check your nvidia drivers are up to date and that you have the correct settings for the program to work in the program settings of MEP, which have changed since the last version. Even that may not be of help if you are not running the latest nvidia drivers for your GPU.

We can't help you unless we have up to date information that would include screen shots or descriptions of your programs GPU and project settings.

Evening Ray! Yeah! Sorry about posting the same question twice! but have spent hours on the project as I did have a deadline given to me for last night and it's been a tricky one to edit without having comp troubz! The video was supposed to be going on the Orchestra's Social Media...but after they had a look at it ..it's too long and because I've used backgrounds downloaded from Youtube..I also think the BBC management were worried about copyright issues ! ! Having said that..even they said that they couldn't find a way musically to make it shorter! The piece runs for 7 mins with no obvious in and out points! So, have agreed to finish the Video and post it either tomorrow or Sunday on Facebook and they will share it.

Sorry for being a pain in the ar*e!

And yes! I really appreciate the help you give!

But if you can just tell me what I need to take screenshots of to update things here?

Sorry again..but I've just googled GPU! Ah! Graphics processing unit! (as you know!)....!

Where do I find that information?

Look forwards to hearing back from you!

Hi Dave

I see your GTX 1050 drivers are out of date - the latest version of the Studio driver is 472.39 (30.0.14.7239).

In MEP 2022 try setting the Program settings, Device options, Preview and Processing options to Microsoft Warp to see if this reduces /stops the crashing.

Hi Dave.

Also can we have a screen shot (print screen) of Windows Settings / System /About but blank out your Device Name, Device ID and Product ID. That will show your processor type and build version as well as the Windows build version to make sure you are up to date with windows. You can do a screen capture or use the two copy options on the about page and then edit out the personal stuff like I have done below.

The other bit in the Program settings as John gave you should look like this.

What other options are in the three boxes under hardware acceleration?

Hi Guys especially @CubeAce and @johnebaker ..just an update on my video after asking so many questions and maybe answering so many questions!

Below is what I was working on and finally uploaded to Facebook and YouTube...! I just want to thank you both for all the help and advice!

To be honest! In the end, I had to remove the upgraded 'Magix Edit 365' which I thought would bring better and easier editing, completely from my Computer and tried re-installed the older version of Magix Movie Pro Premium 2021!

It worked!

Like Magix!

The 'Preview window', that had given me all the bother, came back to life!

As a matter of interest now, would like to know your thoughts as to why, after upgrading to 'Magix Edit 365' the Preview Window stopped working?

Here's the end product!

@weedavy6969

Hi Dave.

At first look at the video I thought it may have been just a complete lack of processing power due to the amount of tracks running in parallel along with the amount of effects in use until I realised this is a remake of an older project.

So a lot depends on how you put this together. If you did indeed open the old project with all those layers and tracks and then add to them rather than load the old video onto one track then add the few more needed for the intro and additional animations then I'm a bit stumped.

I do personally think whatever Magix did to 'improve' the infusion engine is probably at the heart of the problem although if there is an old effect present in the old project that does not exist in the new version of MEP, that may be a reason. This may be a question for the developers.

As for the video. Apart from the musicianship shown which is amazing in itself the editing and post production is also at a level of precision I admire although how much of it was 'in house' I'm not sure but still admirable.

I'm still trying to figure out why both of your names ring a bell with me. I know we haven't met.

Ray.
