Why this result?

terrypin wrote on 10/27/2013, 1:50 PM

In MEP 2013, if I right click the transition icon in a title object and choose Cut (to get it flush to the previous one) does anyone know why that affects the objects in track 1?

Hi Terry

Cannot reproduce this, mine functions correctly no matter which mouse mode is selected (I see you are in single object mouse mode)

Thanks John.  Can you try it again but make sure that the title is created using Ctrl + t with the track 1 object above it first selected, in case that affects the issue. I'll also try it again tomorrow with a fresh project.

I consistently get the same error, in both MEP 2013 and 2014, regardless of mouse mode.

Here's the simplest example, with three JPGs in track 1 and three shorter titles in track 3:

And here's the incorrect result:

John couldn't reproduce it. Anyone else please?

Terry,

I'm getting the same odd behaviour. Extending the test, it doesn't matter what the object is (title or image) and it doesn't mater what tracks it and the objects following are on, everything to the right gets moved the same amount as the object that's being butted against its neighbor to the left. It's as if using the transition icon to make the move as linked to 'all tracks' mouse mode. This in MEP 2014 13.0.1.4.

Bug!

Regards,

Carl

Thanks Carl, much appreciated.

I can't see that it can be by design, so I too reckon it's a (long-standing) bug and I'll report it formally.

Hi Terry

Using your method (which I never use) I can reproduce this - however I cannot decide if this is a bug with the effect action or if it is a grouping display bug.

If an object is selected and a title added with Ctrl + T are you creating a group of objects?

Try this with 3 objects and add titles.

1.   Select object 1, place the timeline cursor part way into the first object and add a title with Ctrl + T.

2.   Select object 3, position the timeline cursor in the middle of object 2, add title with Ctrl + T

Where does the second title end up?

John

I would hope not. I often want to create a title which is not grouped with any other object.

Try this with 3 objects and add titles.

1.   Select object 1, place the timeline cursor part way into the first object and add a title with Ctrl + T.

2.   Select object 3, position the timeline cursor in the middle of object 2, add title with Ctrl + T

Where does the second title end up?

Directly below object 3, not aligned with the marker (unlike the first title).

All very weird.
