Will it overwrite old projects?

Hi.. I currently have the Magix Movie Edit Pro Plus (Version 17.0.1.128).

If I buy the Movie Studio 2022 Suite and install it, will it automatically update my old Movie Edit Pro Plus and keep all my files (wav files and projects etc) or will it delete them? Or do I have to delete the old one myself and install the new one, in which case I would lose everything. Are the files even compatable?

I would just like to try and keep some of my old stuff to refer to and copy etc.

Any ideas? Thanks

Regards Paul

@PAUL-HARE

Hi

The Movie Studio (MMS) 2022 will want to overwrite the Movie Edit Pro 2018 installation, however so long as your projects and media files are in the default locations ie in your Documents folder, or on a second drive they will not be deleted.

The project files are compatible, the only issues you may have are some effects and plugins have been updated in MMS 2022, eg:

  • Rotation and Size & Position have been merged into one effect.
  • Rotation now works in a very different way
  • older effects and 3rd party plugins that came with MEP 2018 may not be available.
