windows 7: I have a camcorder which produces MP4 files. Magix pro14 does not import mp4. Does any version of Magix accept mp4 files

Do you mean Movie Edit Pro 14 from 2008 - or Movie Edit Pro 2014.

If you are using MEP 14 then this does not support HD mp4 video. This was not intoduced until version 15.

MEP 2014 does support HD mp4 files. When you import thr first mp4 to the timeline you should have been asked to activate (or purchase if you have the Basic version) the codec.
