Hi, my computer cant find the right driver for the Video Grabber usb device, and i think that is the reason why i see only bluescreen on the video saver app when i connect my VCR with the device on my computer. It is video saver 2023, bought few months back. Can you help me?

@Atte-Tahvanainen If you can select the grabber as an input device Windows definitely installed the drivers, otherwise it wouldn't be available.

Do you know which video system your VHS player uses? As far as I know, the grabber supports NTSC and PAL but doesn't support SECAM.

You can update photos of your devices and cable connections to this forum via the arrow icon above the response text box. Maybe we can find a cause for the problem.

My vhs player is supporting pal as far as i know, it is philips 14tvcr240/13. I was thinking the driver problem because my device manager says that the video grabber producer is unknown and in the box, "there isnt anydrivers downloaded to this device" + when i tried to update the drivers, windows didnt find any. + im sure i have all my microphones, cameras etc allowed to apps @SP.

@Atte-Tahvanainen Is Magix Video Converter 3 listed in the device manager under Audio-, Video- and Gamecontrollers (Ääni-, video- ja peliohjaimet)?

It should look like this:

As you see, there is also an unknown Video Grabber device. It doesn't seem to make a difference.

You might need to turn on permission for camera access in the Windows security settings. This can be necessary to record video from external devices.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-camera-microphone-and-privacy-a83257bc-e990-d54a-d212-b5e41beba857

Make sure you allow access to desktop apps. The permission for standard apps only include apps from the Microsoft store. Desktop apps have a separate toggle.

Yeah i can see the magix video converter 3 listed in the device manager under audio video and gamecontrollers. Also i have those permissions on as you can see below, and i can see the Magix video easy RYVT edition has been using both my camera and microphone. So its not the unknown videgrabber, not either the permissions for camera and microphone. @SP.

@Atte-Tahvanainen Looks good. And if you now play back your video on your VHS player you don't get any signal inside the software? Are the cables connected correctly?

Atte-Tahvanainen wrote on 11/22/2025, 6:19 AM

I have tested to play many different videos in the player, same problem. Scart is in out mode, and all 3 color cables are firmly connected. This is what i see then in the software, and there is constant beep sound also at the same time when the vhs is playing. Only weird thing i could find was that in the second photo saying "0 signals found" @SP.

Atte-Tahvanainen wrote on 11/22/2025, 7:33 AM

After i click ok in the screen wich says "0 Signals found" it says me like this "Connection to the chosen device cant be made" @SP.

@Atte-Tahvanainen

Hi

Assuming the tapes play OK when a TV is connected to the SCART socket.

Are the video tapes commercially produced?

If so, then from your descriptions of what is happening, this sounds like Macrovision copy protection on the Video tapes, is preventing copying.

@Atte-Tahvanainen

In what order did you first install the software and connect the USB Grabber? The standard practice (which I'm fairly sure this device needs) is that you install the software first and only connect the USB Device when the installation asks for you to do so. The fact you now have two "Video Grabbers" listed, both showing the yellow exclamation mark, shows they are not "properly" installed because their drivers are missing.

So, can I suggest the following procedure to attempt to correct the problem?

  • Uninstall the Video Saver software. To be certain that every component is removed the advice usually given here is to use Revo Uninstaller, it is available in both Pro (paid for) and Free versions, also as a Portable version. Any of them should be adequate for what you need but do check carefully everything it says it is going to remove (from the Registry or as possible connected Files and Folders) especially if you have any other Magix products installed on your computer.
  • In Device Manager, right-click on each of those Video Grabber entries, in turn, and choose the option to Uninstall Device.
  • Restart (Shut down or sign out>Restart) your computer.
  • Install the Video saver software but do not connect the USB Device until the installation screen tells you to do so.

Does this help??

Hi

. . . . cant be that, they are homemade films . . . .

That eliminates one line of possible cause.

What colour is the USB device and are there any markings on it such as K0065 or K0067?
