Working with 10-bit encoded files

PsychotropicFilms wrote on 5/31/2017, 8:25 PM

I'm working on technical specs to provide a film archive, in order to scan "film-to-digital" for a project I'm working on. Their process is 10-bit encoding. They can output encoding as H.264, H.265, ProRes, DVCPro HD, etc. Questions for the community: 1) Can the latest Video Pro X handle 10-bit files? 2) What CODEC can Video Pro X handle with 10-bit encoding? Thanks. Any advice would be helpful. Bart

I am rendering a file now to H.265 and it has a toggle to go to 10bit from 8bit so yes it can handle 10-bit files.....

Thanks Shoemakerpom2014, That's good news. So confirming your're rendering-out a file from the timeline PROJECT ---> EXPORT ----> H.265 and the dialog box gives you a 8 or 10-bit option....That's good. Thanks. Bart
