Merry Christmas!
This is a collaboration I did with Webster (Thomas). We are both quite proud of the results. He did a great job adding to the song. I composed some midi parts, recorded mandolin parts, wrote the lyrics and recorded vocals. Throughout that process, he sent me many other audio files, such as the flute, a few synths, some percussion, additional strings, guitar, church organ, and more. I hope I did a decent job mixing it all together.
The topic of the song is the peaceful sort of mood we can feel around Christmas time (if we are able to slow down, relax, and enjoy it). That is what the verses are about, but then the chorus is more of a flashback to the angels' proclamation of peace on earth with the birth of Christ. So in the present, maybe there is not peace between all people, but at least we as individuals can achieve that serenity at times.
Lyrics:
Skin touched by breath of ice cold air
An essence felt without a care
Moments clear of fleeting fears
Replaced by peace this time of year
Angels aglow, shine bright in the cold
Look up and see the radiant light
and hear them sing of a Savior tonight
singing "Glory to God in the highest heaven
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests."
Great news they have to tell
about the child, Immanuel.
Distress turned to serenity
The dissonance to harmony
Gath'ring near, all we hold dear
Forgotten peace now reappears
Chorus
Thanks for listening! And thanks again to Thomas for helping to keep this project moving, even when he was sick for a while. Now I hope everyone has a truly wonderful time these next few days. Happy New Year, as well, and God bless.
