Brighten

All original. I composed the backing track and played the mandolin parts. I came up with the recurring theme a few weeks ago, and decided to keep this simple instead of expanding the composition. So it's just an intro, and then a 4 bar riff that keeps repeating. For the mandolin part, I alternate between the main theme and a couple solos that are mostly improvised.

It's called "Brighten" because mandolins have a naturally bright, cheerful sound. And we actually got a ton of rain here in Arizona on the day I finished this (Monday). So when I was listening, it evoked the image of sun rays shining through rain clouds. For the cover, I found a picture like that on google.

Thanks so much for listening and sharing honest opinions. This probably won't be my only upload in September. I'll try to have something else finished by the end of the month, so stay tuned.

Lovely, uplifting melody, SpriteBat.  Really nice mandolin work.  I can imagine this backing some happy, family activity in a movie where the visuals and this sort of tune evoke all that is needed to convey the positive message.  Great stuff.

Sandro Glavina is an italian composer, named L'Uomo e L'Ombra. The choice of the name derives from the title of the album "L'uomo e l'ombra" of the band "Abstract Music Nuova Esistenza", an experimental group founded by Sandro Glavina together with his friends in the mid-70s.

In the period 2009-2022, L'Uomo e L'Ombra has done 84 albums. The compositions of Sandro Glavina are partly influenced by progressive rock. Sandro has developed a personal style with many experimentations and actualizations. He offers music beyond borders by intertwining different styles in crossover with each other. Prog, psychedelia, classical, post-rock, jazz, pop are some of the influences that dissolve in ambient atmospheres, citations of contemporary music and minimalist nuances. Sandro Glavina aka L'Uomo e L'Ombra plays the music using VSTI synthesizers, keyboards and adds some loops. Sandro isn't a professional musician, composes and plays music just for fun, but his works reach a good outcome, pleasant to listen. L'UOMO E L'OMBRA

Good job,my friend! You are a very good mandolin player. I had the privilage to see John McEuen last night so I know good mandolin when I hear it.

Hi Travis,

while listening to your wonderful and really bright song, I just want to tell you that some seconds ago I returned to the land of Magix. Alright then, see you soon!

Yours, Thomas

Hi Travis

Yes, you are a very good mandolin player.  That in itself is something special .  I really like this tune and could have listened to more had it been longer.  I like your use of syncopation that gives your song a happy, almost Calypso sound.

I see a big leap in your musical talent from your 2008 recording. Of course the technology has also taken a big leap but you are keeping right with it!

Super job

Trish
