Greetings to the Magix community! Time for me to do something different again ... This piece may be something more typical, something of EDM, rock, dance etc. A little story goes with it ...

When I was very young one day my father took me to a local TV (television station) when they had an open house tour of the studio. I had often watched a children's TV show on that station and I recognized the set of that show that had puppets. Back then my family and probably most had black and white television sets. So all the shows I watched were in black and white and of course the shades of gray in between.

As I approached the set it look very different to me. To my surprise and amazement the set was very colorful. Especially I saw blue, red, and yellow colors on the set. Then I looked toward the large box shaped black and white TV camera and the lights that shined on the set. And I learned then that the choice of colors on the set were very important to the vivid shades of grey and black and white that I saw on TV every day.

Colo(u)ful Shades Of Grey (personally I like the 'colourful' spelling that some of you use in your part of the world, seems more colourful ;)

I did in a way imagine that the sounds in the song have a way of expressing the shades of sound making a very colourful harmonious sound bringing out the shades of melody and blends of the various synth textures used to create this lively song.

Hope you enjoy the sound and the beat!

My best to all,

Mark ;)

Hi Mark, a great story of your childhood, my father and I use to watch "Jack Cousteau's Undersea World" in black and white in the late 60's. When we got our first colour TV in the early 70's we were both blown away by the details and rich colours, so I can image how you felt that day on set. A wonderful well constructed piece with great variation, cheers πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸΊπŸΊπŸΊ

Hello Mark, my friend

My first TV was a small black and white one I got as a child. I used to watch my cartoons and stuff on it. A great memory, definitely.
When I think about where it all evolved, up until today.
It was a huge difference when I got my first color TV. And today I watch everything on a 65-inch 4K UHD TV. The technology is fascinating.
I think your track reflects what you were trying to express very well. It's a really cool track. I like the melodies and the very good processingπŸ’―πŸ‘πŸ‘Œ

Oh yes, my friend, black and white TVs, of course we had those back then too. At a football game, it was always funny when the reporter mentioned the colors of the jerseys, but you could only distinguish between light and dark (gray). πŸ˜‰

Your musical work on this topic fits very well! Cool synth sounds – top ingredients – beautiful effects and professional sound! πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―

Stay healthy, see you soon, and best wishes from Sylvio 😎

A very lively sound and quite soulful. Maybe pining for those days of black and white. I'd say as the technology has advanced, the quality of the shows has gone down. You're right that greyscale can make for good viewing. The only analogy in music I can think of is a plain track and then the same track but with stereo and loaded with effects. If overdone, the plain will sound better. Ringo Starr said he liked his tracks with a bit of dirt on them. I think you capture these ideas well in your track. Disco does not suck! Not that your track is disco. Good work!

Best wishes,

Philip-J
