Progressive rock, also known as prog rock or prog, is a rock music subgenre that originated in the United Kingdom, with further developments in Germany, Italy, and France, throughout the mid-to-late 1960s and 1970s. It developed from psychedelic rock, and originated, similarly to art rock, as an attempt to give greater artistic weight and credibility to rock music.Bands abandoned the short pop single in favor of instrumentation and compositional techniques more frequently associated with jazz or classical music in an effort to give rock music the same level of musical sophistication and critical respect.
Songs were replaced by musical suites that often stretched to 20 or 40 minutes in length and contained symphonic influences,  Bands such as Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, The Moody Blues, Yes, King Crimson, Genesis, and Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP) were the genre's most influential groups. *

The band Kansas introduced "Dust in the Wind" in the late 70's.

Dear Thish, this is a beautiful song, refined, elegant (maybe a little sad) that I have listened with great pleasure.

I like the original... and I very much like your version.

What I don't like here is the mastering... bass sounds are well "over the edge"... they "mingle" with each other... quite some overmodulation / distortion of sounds / frequencies...

And... please... don't cut off the ending like this.

Hi Trish, Technical comments aside, I loved your version. Soaring strings, beautiful piano melody.

Back in the day I used to play this on guitar fingerstyle and always loved the chord progression. Your playing is excellent  as usual.

Loved it, thanks for bringing back the memories.

Best Regards,

Stu

Hello Trish, you've made a presentation worthy of the most 'great musical expert.
You mentioned the band, along with Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Santana, have accompanied me during my teenage years, and I still listen with great interest.
I digressed a bit 'now let's talk a bit' of your song.
I have to say that your music, whatever kind it is, always strong emotions, because it 's always refined and always creates a nice atmosphere that make you feel good listener.
I'm always very happy to listen to your tunes.
Best wishes.

Hi Trish:

My, my, you're getting damn good with your use of accompaniment instruments.  It truly adds another dimension to your already beautiful arrangements.  This composition is a good selection to explore all of the possibilities of your new keyboard.   What is the model?

As always, my friend, lovely presentation.  If you keep on offering up these wonderful songs, we may soon have to pay an admission fee! <lol>

Take care.

Kansas! The rock band with a violin player.  An excellent, original interpretation of this rock classic. You are an excellent musician. You need no advice when it comes to playing the piano.

Hi! Ich wüsste gern, worin hier die Größe liegt. Ich schaue auf das Cover und verbinde es eventuell mit einem Winterlied. Egal, wie auch immer, gefällt mir Dein Klavier mal wieder gut.

Hi Trish!!!

Wow... right now you are entering a bit in my world...Prog Rock is defenetely one of my scenes!!!

About your presentation, yes is true, that is a style that perhaps was born in UK, but soon was spread for all over the world, and not only Europe.... the proof is that the band you present in here is prerciselly american.

After a long period of "almost dead" state, during the 80's and almost all 90' , sthis style of music was reborn again, preciselly in America, with bands like Dream Theater or Fates Warning.

It's in this period, late 90's that apears record labels in Us, dedicated  only to this style of music, Magna Carta for example, a Mark Varney project that had as an objective, reunited several distinct musicians of this genre, to play as an project and not as a band.... Liquid Tension Experiment is an excelent example of this.

Your interpretation is amazing of this great classic of Prog Rock music.

I would like a lot to hear you playing more things in this area....i'm curious...

All the best to you, Trish

Emanuel

superlative performance !!! ciao da sandro

Last changed by Sandro_Glavina_Channel on 7/6/2014, 7:51 PM, changed a total of 1 times.

Sandro Glavina is an italian composer, named L'Uomo e L'Ombra. The choice of the name derives from the title of the album "L'uomo e l'ombra" of the band "Abstract Music Nuova Esistenza", an experimental group founded by Sandro Glavina together with his friends in the mid-70s.

In the period 2009-2022, L'Uomo e L'Ombra has done 84 albums. The compositions of Sandro Glavina are partly influenced by progressive rock. Sandro has developed a personal style with many experimentations and actualizations. He offers music beyond borders by intertwining different styles in crossover with each other. Prog, psychedelia, classical, post-rock, jazz, pop are some of the influences that dissolve in ambient atmospheres, citations of contemporary music and minimalist nuances. Sandro Glavina aka L'Uomo e L'Ombra plays the music using VSTI synthesizers, keyboards and adds some loops. Sandro isn't a professional musician, composes and plays music just for fun, but his works reach a good outcome, pleasant to listen. L'UOMO E L'OMBRA
