Endangered Species

Another quickie.  This one a combination of playing around with various synth sounds, and hearing on the UK news that a number of our bird species will be on the red alert list for fear of extinction within the next decade or so, unless something is done to protect them.  This down to environmental changes largely attributable to human kind's glorious march forward (if that's what you can call it).

Once I realised that the synth sound I was sampling was rather bird like, the theme was a done deal and it went from there.  The message is rather hammered home in an unsubtle way, but then nobody ever accused me of being subtle . . . .

All midi work as usual.  Thanks for listening, if you do.

EDIT - whoops - forgot to attribute the sound effects - sorry.  The shotgun sound FX were both by 'The-Sun-God' and to be found on SoundBible.com

nice experimental sound (even beats) in some moments i had the feeling 2 play simcity2000 cause of the gui (is it the hunter??)  ...I do ask for the hunter cause... : do you know "peter and the wolf"?? next Q: is it a moog?? ... enough Q´s for this time but i would be interested 2 know ... If yo do not know peter ...

the first one is the bird ... but you will see and listen if you did not knew .. . my fay is the cat ... (^^ just in this moment i saw your Alice(what ever)-cat) have fun while going your way!!! lg

Hi Brotherstellung,
And thanks for the thoughtful comment.  Yes I do know the Profoviev Peter and the Wolf and have loved it for years.  Each character having a musical signature, and each one being so appealing was a wonderful introduction to classical style music as a child.

What midi instruments did I use?  Just checking . . . .
Aaah -

Reading down the track list
Iris2, Curve 2.5 and DN-e1 (Ice Age) - beefed up later with Analog Synth (Blue Swell) - the latter two both Magix
for the intro and atmosphere

Bird comprises DN-e1 (Alice) and Analog Synth (Moonlight)

Then there are too layers of Acoustic Guitar (Vita), two layers of Upright Bass (Magix)

Lastly there are two layers of Alchemy vocals from the Dream Voices selection - now no longer available unfortunately, since Apple bought them up and seem to have buried them.

I program everything in the matrix editor, trying to do as much of the mix with track volume control as I can - mastering is a complete mystery to me.  Hope that helps.

Thanks for your interest.
Cheers,
NIck

Once something else, very experimental, however, nevertheless, hearing-worth. Very much made good from you and a good idea.

Hi Nickillus,

that is a nice quickly made song (just can't believe it was done in a quick way) which sounds very well thought and very melodic and straight to the point you want to bring across.

Very nice track which still whistles in my ears after it stopped. Excellent idea.

Best regards,

Norbert

Nice ambient soundtrack. It has the feeling of walking through an exotic place, maybe exploring a forest or jungle, kind of adventurous and mysterious, I like it. Especially when the choirs come in, it really takes me to another place, which I always love in music.

One thing to mention, I think perhaps there could be a better sound choice than the midi acoustic guitar (and the more realistic drum sounds, but those were more subtle). I think a real acoustic guitar would have been awesome there, but I know that's much more difficult or not even possible in the first place. So given the atmosphere of the other sounds, I just think something else might fit in better. Either something very real or very synthetic, not something synthetic trying to sound like something real. Ok, I know I'm totally rambling and no one cares. Just a thought I had. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this!

Hi Nick:

You never fail to come up with some interesting sounds.  I keep telling you that I'd rather listen to your conceptualizations than a ton of other stuff dangling out there.

Your mind harbors a wealth of unique and inventive musical creations.

Nothing but the best to you and yours...

Griff

as you know I appreciate your style of music because it is never repetitive and always projected vrso experimentation.
therefore mè can not have that positive opinions.
I was over 50 years listening music you all kinds and then listen to me your music is highly professional

Again, a very apt name for the tune (you seem good at this)

Sound levels, as is the norm with your music is great. So thats all your fader, mixing, EQ, stereo field, compiling, and mastering done in a quickie!? (OMG.. How?)

Your synth useage and experimentation are great. You actually have a vivid imagination, and I checked your profile and noticed you're involved with Art. Explains the intellect, creativity and suavee that I'm seeing in your synth work.

Your drums are nice and rattly, and that is in a nice smooth, not in your face at a rock concert kinda way too. Sounds like a tree that your birds need to sit in to found there new populous (popoulie?)... Bird nests!

The exact way you use the since, I am very interested in. The different bass, treble and mid notes you are using are beautiful.

But, then I hear the.... Ol' yeller sound... Around the back kinda deal.... And my populie (populous)... Bird Nests will never be more than a possible future.

But, in your next track, humans can change right? Like that movie says we all know, everyone changes there state of mind at the break of things collapsing...
