Title: Falling Short of My Heroes
Artists: Travis Johnson
Album: Falling Short of My Heroes
Hello everyone! It has been a while since the last song I uploaded. That is because I finished my first CD and I decided to take a short break. I can't believe I have already completed over 50 minutes of music! Anyway, it was not very long before I got the urge to begin my second CD, and this is the first song I finished (all original, composed with synth).

It is also my first song that has vocals almost the entire time. Vocals are not usually my strong point, but I hope you like them!

I couldn't decide what this song should be about until yesterday. I was listening to an album called "The Human Equation" by the artist "Ayreon", and I got the feeling that I would never be able to create music that perfect. It truly is a masterpiece, and has had a huge impact on me. It is one of the few albums that changed my entire perception of music. So anyway, this song is about that feeling of inferiority. I got the idea for the lyrics yesterday, and recorded all the vocals this morning. The music had already been finished. Oh, and I made the picture myself (can't you tell?).

Thanks for listening, I really appreciate it!

A well said title :(

1) Come out from the state of self doubt! and don't hold yourself back, particularly on vocals, use a vocoder if you want to correct certain imperfections, it will help a lot, but first let them come out... I barely get to hear them.

2) Review your work a few times, you are the best critic of your own work!

3) A balance of quantity & quality is essential..

4) A good job needs a bit more than a mornings work usually..see point 3.

I will rate on a reload if you don't mind that.

Remember that this song was made with relatively cheap software and a cheap microphone. As I often tell people, I would have my own professional recording studio if I could afford it. But as for now, I just have to work with what I have. I don't know how my songs will sound to other people, because we all have different methods of listening to music. I usually listen with headphones, so maybe that makes it more difficult to mix songs "correctly". Regardless, I hope everyone can judge the music only for the music itself and not the sound quality. Please understand that there are some problems I simply can't fix at the moment. Also, I should mention that mixing is a personal preference, so what sounds good to me might sound bad to others. Perhaps I should stop adding vocals to songs, because that always results in negative feedback. Just keep in mind that I am trying my best, and that is the only thing that should matter.

Hey man, I listened to it, read some comments and then listened to it again.  The music doesn't have a bad mix, and the vocals aren't entirely bad, I like what your doing!  If I were to give some feedback, I would say try taking a little of the bass out of the vocals so they are a bit clearer.  Keep working on your voice it takes time and lots of rehersal.  Other than that, keep it up, this is the second song I've heard of yours.  Interestingly great Arrangement.

hey man great track! love the arangement. volcal strenghth comes in time i gusse. i dont do alot of vocals myself. i think you need to become part of the moment in your music and not hold back so much. and yah there rite, spend more time with your music and become your own worst critic. never be satisfied with your stuff. i have things i have been working on for years and my music changes all the time. i think you did a great job. it takes alot to put yourself out there like you did.
