Title: fire and rain10-4-15

Hello Community

First I would like to thank those of you who wished me well on my hand surgery.  Unfortunately I have had 2 surgeries because the first time was a failure.  I have  a cast on my arm for 2 more weeks plus 1 day, then a brace for 1 or 2 months!

"Fire and Rain" is a cover written and sung by James Taylor in 1970 from his album "Sweet Baby James".   It has long been a favorite of mine and the album was my first cassette tape I ever bought!

The drum track I got from Wikiloops and the rest of the song I played on my keyboard.

Good to be back and thank you all

Trish

All the best for your recovery!

Oh yes - the song is nicely done. I thought that the drums and piano sometimes move a bit out of syncron tempo but that does not change the nice melody. Well done.

Always great to see you here, Trish - and all the more pleasing considering your physical disadvantages at the moment (soon to remedied I hope).  All which only leads me to believe you must have played this charming version of the classic James Taylor track with your feet.  Either way it's another great addition from you.  My only very minor quibble is with some of the drumming, which sounds off beat to me.  You didn't play that bit.  Do remember though - I know nothing and am usually best ignored.

Hi Trish,
another great test of your sophistication and musical sensivity.
I do not know the original song, but this your version is pleasant, conveys a sense of harmony and delicacy.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Hi Trish,

Happy to have you back and contributing! However you managed to put this together, it turned out great. Loved the guitar tone you used for the rhythm section. Super rendition of this classic, I can see James nodding in appreciation.

Great job!

Best Regards,

Stu

Hallo Trish,

Hello Trish,

very nice and relaxed song.

Sometimes, the drums are not in the same tempo as guitar and piano i think.

Anyway, i love it!

Best regards

Mugge

Hi Trish,

The one-armed bandit strikes again...(and I'm not talking about a slot machine!!!!"  Well done.  James Taylor is iconic and his music unforgettable.  You have covered this song excellently.  I must agree with some other comments here in regard to your drum sequence, but this song as a whole is absolutely great.

Thanks for sharing this Trish...and welcome back...even though you are one-handed/one-armed.

Sandro Glavina is an italian composer, named L'Uomo e L'Ombra. The choice of the name derives from the title of the album "L'uomo e l'ombra" of the band "Abstract Music Nuova Esistenza", an experimental group founded by Sandro Glavina together with his friends in the mid-70s.

In the period 2009-2022, L'Uomo e L'Ombra has done 84 albums. The compositions of Sandro Glavina are partly influenced by progressive rock. Sandro has developed a personal style with many experimentations and actualizations. He offers music beyond borders by intertwining different styles in crossover with each other. Prog, psychedelia, classical, post-rock, jazz, pop are some of the influences that dissolve in ambient atmospheres, citations of contemporary music and minimalist nuances. Sandro Glavina aka L'Uomo e L'Ombra plays the music using VSTI synthesizers, keyboards and adds some loops. Sandro isn't a professional musician, composes and plays music just for fun, but his works reach a good outcome, pleasant to listen. L'UOMO E L'OMBRA

Hi Trish. First I just want to continue to wish you well, sorry I'm rather late.

It's a bit coincidental that you're covering this song, which I had never heard before until somewhat recently. At the end of summer we were having a going away party for 3 of my cousins who all go to college out of state. We were sitting around the fire of a small outdoor fireplace thing when it started to rain (pretty rare in AZ). My mom started singing "Fire and Rain" and telling one of my cousins (a country music fan) about James Taylor. Well I went inside at some point. It must have been 15 minutes later when I went back out, and couldn't believe she was still talking about him. So then we were kind of teasing her for going on and on about him, and quoted her for the next few days, saying "So he's like kind of country, kind of folk..." But I guess he isn't even considered country, at least not like modern country. I don't know.

Anyway, of course I enjoy your version. The piano and acoustic guitar sounds are a good blend, and the drums really make the whole thing dynamic.

Best wishes; we all care about you and hope you're ok.

Trishie:

Great cover.  James Taylor has always been at the top of my list of favorite performers.  Ya can't go wrong with this selection, buddy.

"Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end.  I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend.  But I always thought that I'd see you again".

Wonderful stuff...

Hi Trish,

I'm late!!  but not to worry, I enjoyed the listen, despite the little errors in the drumming sequences.  Another excellent performance on the piano, a pleasure to listen to.

quelllo che ho apprezzato fin dall'inizio è la qualità del suono. molto limpido e distinto. La musica è piacevole e le chitarre sono le protagoniste . brava Trish. ( il brano pero finisce così presto....)
