Jauntify

I regularly use a drawing and painting software called ArtRage for my professional work.  Something that made me smile about it when I first started using it was how they humorously added the pop-up help message offering to customise the layout with different colour schemes.  It simply announced 'Jauntify'.

For me that word best decribes this tune, that came out of following a simple four note phrase that drives the bass.  With its long intro and outro it may be too long, but hey - I had fun.  Thanks if you decide to give is a listen.  All cobbled together in the matrix editor of Music Maker Premium 2014.

Again, not sure quite what category to put this misfit in, so apologies to those who may be offended by its placement here.  No insult intended.

Hi Nick:

As I've opined in the past, your creations are always very keen and interesting.  This piece is no different, my good friend.

On the subject of your reference as to the "misfit" categorization of this arrangement, I fully understand what you're saying.  Sometimes certain music defies genre labels.  I like to call these kinds of pieces, "music without borders".  similar to the phrase, "doctors without borders".  'Disparate' sounds and note textures allow for the flexibility of freedom away from the restrictions of labels.  So, rather than agonize over what category to place a particular song, I would simply leave that arduous task up to the inherent 'subjectivity' of the individual listener.  Know what I mean?  And, you know that I've been there many times.

I also like the fact that you developed the song following the first few notes of the bass.  That's a technique I use in virtually every original composition.  All songs start out from just one note or chord.  Way to go Nick.  A creative mind at work...

All in all, very inventive material, brother.

Griff

Thank you so much for the encouragement, Griff.  I can't tell you how much such words mean coming from someone whose work I admire so much.  You are a very generous spirit.

Talking ways to begin - So far the most productive ways have been as you suggest (and really interesting to find that's a prime way of you finding your way into a composition - thanks for relating that). . . .

- or to browse various of the wondrous sounds the numerous synths (free and otherwise) have to offer and see what they suggest,

 - or to have some theme idea in mind.
There have been occasions recently when I've needed background music to support vidcaps that form part of entries in the Q&A section of ImagineFX magazine (digital fantasy art - Future Publishing).  The image and the music often develop side by side.  I'm someone who has always taken notice of film scores and how important they can be.

I really appreciate your continued this sound research, this track reminds me of some passages of songs of the great Gentle Giant.
Music is not easy but quality.
pop track a little out of line, but highly interesting
