Out of the Chaos

Now with this quickie we really are talking rough edges, but I'm not sure it's necessarily a bad thing.  Reading Computer Music magazine the other day, I was directed to a free voice synthesizer call Daisy (Plogue.com).  You can write down the words, broken down into syllables and the voice will perform them to your chosen midi tune.  It works as a vst plugin.
It takes some tweaking, and others will do a much better job, but this variant, which is Daisy Basic has a nicely plaintif air about it.  It seemed to suit something more downbeat and enigmatic, so I slapped a few simple lines over a repetitive guitar riff, written for Vita Classic, acoustic guitar.  Hopefully the vst synth tones from Iris 2 and Curve 2.5, plus the incrementally building Jazz drums (Magix again) also lend an undercurrent of urgency.  Those who know me at all will know that upright bass has to be in the mix somewhere too - and is.

More of an experiment than anything else.  Thanks for listening, if you do.

EDIT - Feedback has told me that the lyrics aren't clear to understand, despite me trying to keep them simple.  More practice and nuancing needed, obviously.  It's hard to  make consonents crisp, which means some words seem to lose their beginnings or ends.

All she says is-

Where did    She go
Tell me         You know, please
I must           Tell her
Her mother lives

I listened to this one in the morning, but for some reason my phone wouldn't let me comment.

This is a different but it has a certain feel that makes the hips sway. It has the feel of a snake charmer, so it only makes sense.

The VST voice PlugIN, what does it say exactly? I heard a few comments here and there but it was very hard to make out. It sounded almost electronic, like (I don't know if you called it this) a toy I had as a kid called My Pal 2.

I wont get into detail in your comments section so I dont bore bore everyone here with one of my interesting tales from the vault (meanwhile back at the ranch...)... In summary it was a talking robot.

As always, your upright bass, beautiful, love how its not over the top, you always play it nicely!

The synth (not sure if Iris 2 or Curve 2.5) are almost hypnotic, almost an arabic sands kind of feel. Very Aladdin of you (I love that movie too!!!)

I like the whole feel of the whole song but wish I knew what was being said.

All in all still well done.

And thanks for uploading again!

Thanks for the nice comment Jinty, and for yet another very detailed, and thoughtful comment, Martin.

I knew the acid test would be if anyone could actually understand what the synthetic voice was supposedly saying.  Having the advantage of knowing what I wrote means I can just about understand it, but the objective observer, or rather listener, can't it seems.  I'll nip back into the blurb I wrote with it and add the few lyrics in to clarify things.  Not that the song will make any more sense to you when I do that, but at least you'll know what robo Daisy is saying . . . . .

I do think that with practice and familiarity about what does and doesn't work with this tool, it could become quite an effective asset.  Always was an optimist . . . . . .

I seem to repeat myself, but I think that your music is unaa retrospective of modern progressive music of the 70's as a group like Gentle Giant Curved Air, the first yes and also in certain passages of King Crimson.
In the comunity I think that in this kind you are without doubt the leader.
ideas always clear and sometimes sounds amazing
what can I do ; tell good; !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! make you my compliments !!!!!!! or other!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...... here we just listen

I would say that’s because the genre doesn’t need converts. But really good idea for creating this music. Keep it on. Nice to hear.

All the best. Regards...
