To the Magix community,

This time last year I shared here an instrumental song 'Our Animal Friends'. This song is kind of in the same spirit of 'animal friends' but has a humorous expression of the mischievous things our beloved animal friends do. So you are all invited to help solve the mystery of 'who done it'.

Who has been making all those cat noises during the night when I was trying to get some sleep?

Who climbed the Christmas tree?

Who took food off my plate when I wasn't looking?

Who drank out of my tea cup?

Who knocked over the flower pot?

Who shredded my news paper?

Who left paw prints all over the kitchen floor?

Well Elementary my dear friend, it is 'all the usual suspects' ;)

Who left a mess in the kitchen and ate the cookies, 'well I confess it was me who did that one' ;)

Life is more fun with (cat) 'Partners In Crime' - lol

BIG TROUBLE!

My best to you all!

Mark ;)

β€œPartners in Crime” β€” A Playful Caper

β€œPartners in Crime” opens with a bright, springy rhythm that immediately conjures the image of cats ricocheting around a room, batting at loose objects and tugging at anything that dares to dangle. The composer leans into this feline chaos with a lively pattern that feels quick on its feet β€” the musical equivalent of paws skittering across the floor.

Soon, the track shifts into a sly, stalking groove. The tempo stays lively, but the mood narrows into something more deliberate, as though the cat has spotted an opportunity to β€œpull a fast one.” This section has a conspiratorial quality, a sense of plotting wrapped in playful intent.

Throughout the piece, the instrumentation cleverly mimics the textures of cat behaviour:

scratch‑like timbres that evoke claws on fabric or cardboard

soft, rounded tones that suggest purring beneath the mischief

lines that echo meows and the unmistakable β€œkibbles now” demand

Midway through, the pursuit of treats becomes almost narrative. There is a sense of triumph β€” the moment the cat secures its kibbles or catnip prize. And in the closing measures, the tone warms into something affectionate, as though the feline rascal returns to its human accomplice to share the victory. The owner, of course, is not entirely innocent either; humans can be just as mischievous.

β€œPartners in Crime” succeeds as a lighthearted sonic vignette. It captures the dual nature of cats β€” playful troublemakers and affectionate companions β€” and invites the listener to join the caper rather than merely observe it.

Β

Best wishes,

Philip-J

@Philip-J

Thank you Phillip!

I thought it is a good time of year to get back to my 'animal friends' theme. You have listened and caught the fine detail of the music expression here. Yes a sense of the wild in a domestic home setting. When we invite the wild in nature into our living room, bedroom, and kitchen we have made the decision to live with the wild. Yes you did mention a dual nature. Cats can really connect to us and be affectionate, loving and comforting, and independent, ... and be wild also.

And we do have our canine friends too. But this is something like our music community. We have our well trained dog friends ... and well we have those feline friends that can be 'big trouble' - lol.

How do we do music? ... well those canine friends tend to want to please us and do very well what they are trained and commanded to do ... and those feline friends are not worried about pleasing us as they do what they want to do ... so they can be are our partners in crime.

Such it is in music ...

With my independent spirit, my best to you Phillip ...

Mark ;)

Hi Mark

Cool track about cats.

But pets are really wonderful, I couldn't live without them. We've always had animals as long as I can remember.

We currently have two cats, and they like to get up to all sorts of cat mischief, or just laze around, and sometimes they even fight.
