Hello Music Lovers

This is a medley of "Sunshine of My Life"  and  "Satin Doll" with a little bit of "Wave" in-between.  I arranged "Sunshine of My Life" a long time ago for one of my organ students to play for a contest at the Illinois State Fair.  I remembered most of the arrangement and adapted it for piano. This is one that has been on my "back burner" for quite awhile and I finally finished it!

I appreciate your time and comments

Trish

Hi Trish:

Ahhh...  I can see Stevie Wonder nodding his head in rapt approval.  Your's has a more undulating, 'lush' flow, rather than Stevie's up-tempo 1973 version.  But, I personally like a softer interpretation of the piece.  In addition, I notice that you have added a lot of so-called "Jazz"-styled chords and runs; definitely giving your rendition a mature and earthy tone.  You know I love it.

Your segue from Stevie to Ellington is a sweet touch, girl.  I have not heard the tune in quite some time.  It certainly has earned the right to be played by a skilled talent.  I'll take your "back burner' stuff any day, my good friend.

You always play with "affectuoso", and that's one of the many reasons why it's sublimely easy for me to listen to your musical presentations.

Stay well...

Griff

Your dexterity and musicality just seems to grow and grow Trish.  Splendid work.  Get that back burner heated up right now, if this is the sort of fare it's producing.

Dear Trish,

I just love these tunes and your interpretation also. The piano sound is lovely and your masterful piano playing too.Straight to the favourites. 5 well deserved stars. The only thing I could spare easily is: the flute. I enjoy Trish´s pure piano the most, as you know.

Regards.

Hey Trish,

I know this tune and find them very pleasant to hear!
Your piano playing is excellent again!
One question ..... is the flute original or played by an organ?
sounds together very nicely!

give you 5

Hi Trish:

You already know that i love your work, but sometimes you surprise me never the less.

I think that pick up a song like this to interpreting, is already not an easy task, but pick up an important 70's hit like this, and playing it with such smoothness and tenderness, turning a funky/shuffle song in a tender jazzy style... well is not for every one....

The Duke Ellington song, i have to confess that i didn't knew, but your version i love it, with lot's of swing that i like

The cherry on top of the cake, was for me the small approach that you did on the Wave song of Tom Jobim.... i love it and right now i'm singing in my work...

"Vou-te contar,

Os olhos já não podem ver

Coisas que só o coração pode entender

Fundamental é mesmo o amor

É impossivel ser feliz sozinho"

Great work Trish

All the best to you

Hi Trish,

Loved it! Super idea adding a slow jazz feel to the Stevie song, flows so nicely. Your playing is as usual stellar and the tone and phrasing superb.

Loved the "rag time feel "transition at 3:23.

Back Burner? Great job!

Best Regards,

Stuart

I know Stevie Wonders Song... the other one I had to look up...

...and I see (and hear)... Wow !!! Ella Fitzgerald... both (Steve and Ella) their songs are so timeless... in my opinion.

You did a phantastic job here... I really like this mélange. It goes along smoothly... creating a feeling of... not sure... nightclub of the 20's...

...gotta figure this out --->  FAV
