Greetings to the Magix community.

Now and then I like to explore music that expresses suspense, intrigue, the unknown, or what is not experienced or understood by many. Perhaps there is the perception of darkness or is it something to be changed for the better. I had tried to decide whether to call this music piece 'the encounter' or 'the exchange'. However we call it for all of us it is much the same.

An much of the time I create music that is about music. Thank you for joining me in another journey in musical expression.

Best to all ;)

Mark ;)

A spooky track with growls and clangs from the synths, moans and groans from the lost souls. Ambience in a negative spirit. Not exactly restful, but thought-provoking about the Beyond. A pleasing choice for sombre reflections.

Some of the synth tones date from around 2000, perhaps earlier. They carry a kind of spectral familiarity—like old ghosts revisiting a new mix.

This latest track feels like a séance conducted by machines. The textures are deliberate: clangs that echo like abandoned factories, pads that hover like fog over forgotten fields. The past reassembled through circuitry.

There’s humor, too. A patch that sounds like a vending machine dispensing regrets. A bass throb that groans like a tired ghost clocking in for another shift. It’s not trying to scare—it wants us to ponder the Exchange.

The ending leaves us relieved to rejoin the real world. But while it plays, we linger between reflection and a sense of unease at what we've Encountered.

@Philip-J

Hello Philip,

I knew you would have lots of fun with this one! Of course you did and excellent effort at capturing the spirit and meanings of 'The Exchange'. I did work at odd hours to get this one out and I had some inspiration from different sources. Yes there is an echoing of the sounds of the very earliest synths. These sounds are some of my own hardware and software instruments and also embedded on some of the Magix loops. The Roland SH-1000 synth including some other synths produced in the early 70s had built in 'growl' circuitry to make some of those sub-note growls that are a much of the sound on this track. So yes it was a séance conducted by my studio machines, some of those ancient synths sounds coming back from the past to haunt us.

I did not intend to make this as a Halloween special track. There were reasons at the time that I needed to express myself in the spirit of this instrumental song. I might sometime next month make a music video using one of my old music tracks for the Halloween season. I do take such things in the meaning of this song seriously. And Bert (the guitarsmurf) did add that this music is reminiscent some sounds of Eno and David Bowie. I suppose that I am a bit of a 'space oddity', and I am proud of it - lol.

Thanks again Philip,

I hope I can keep you inspired with whatever next I come up with in my music ...

Mark ;)
