The song was originally written in 1972. It is a historical perspective of the artist's life growing up before, during and after the Civil Rights Movement and Empowerment in Chicago. By age eleven he had thouroughly grasped the reality of the races.
Believing that all Americans were basically good people but were beign torn apart by it's laws. Laws which created and sometimes encouraged racism, hatred and bigotry. It was therefore neither black or white that was wrong. The law was wrong!
The story is engaging and the old school flavor is sure to get your head bobbing.
Not the best studio quality but the message alone is enough to warrant a listen.
I can safely say that this song is not what you would expect. Enjoy!
