SF 12.6 issue
hi @danny-biando, i believe you are referring to Sound Forge Pro 12.1...which is the latest update of Sound Forge Pro 12...this post is referring to Sound Forge Audio Studio 12.6, which was the latest update of Audio Studio 12...and you can always find the latest build available for your programs by logging into your magix user account and looking at the 'my products' section. i hope this helps!

Ozone 10 Elements serial number
Hi @erik-w...you have to watch out for Humble Bundle...the programs sold there do not include serial numbers for the bonus software. Humble Bundle does make a very tiny note to say this on their product descriptions, but sadly it is not made perfectly clear by them. If you did not buy the program directly from Magix, then you don't get the serial numbers for the bonus stuff. that goes generally for all programs on Humble Bundle, not just Magix programs.

Sound Forge won't install on new computer.
hi @sven-v and @David-Royal...if it is because it says 'download failed'...you need to check two things: 1) check that you are running the latest installer available for it (it's in your Magix User Account)...but in the download manager, make sure to UNCHECK the iZotope Master and Repair Suite...the installer for that is outdated, as that plugin has long been discontinued and is unsupported. This will block the installation of SF, so you should ONLY check the box to install Sound Forge (in both Pro and Audio Studio 10). 2) the other thing is to make sure you've enabled all of the older versions of Microsoft .NET Framework. You can check this by going to your windows file explorer and clicking Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features On or Off, then make sure that the box labeled '.NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) is checked, and then restart your computer. This should fix the problem. i hope this helps! this goes for basically all of the Sony made versions.

hi @Mr._Mike_D. this sounds like another case of the magix low latency 2016 driver interference again...i would recommend uninstalling the magix low latency driver...here's how to do it: press the Windows key + R on your computer keyboard, and type REGEDIT in the Open field: Then navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > ASIO > Magix Low Latency 2016: Now, simply right click the Magix Low Latency 2016 folder, and delete it. this should do the trick!

hi everyone...so the audio cleaning lab (despite the rebranding of the name) is not actually a sound forge program...it's made by the samplitude team (which is why the interface is completely different and there are no similarities with the other sound forge programs). they have been aware of this issue for over a year, but i am hearing now that they are finally in the midst of working on a fix for it. i have no info as to when it will be ready, but the word now is that they are going to fix this and release a patch for it. it's a small team and with all of the other samplitude programs and sequoia to develop, acl hasn't gotten the attention it needs.

Ozone 10 Elements serial number
yes, @rraud is correct, the serial numbers between versions are not interchangeable. also, yes, for customers who purchased sound forge pro 16 before this past november, the bundled plugins were ozone 9 and rx 8...this is what we were given by izotope. in november, izotope changed that and gave us ozone 10 and rx 10 for our bundles...unfortunately, only the customers who purchased sfp16 after november get serial numbers for ozone 10 and rx 10, the customers who purchased prior to that do not get a free upgrade to the later versions, unfortunately, as the bundle changed.

hi @Michael-Poquette, it is important to know that customers only receive a serial number for those plugins if they purchased SF directly from Magix, and not as part of a bundle. So if you purchased Vegas, for example, and received SF as a bonus, then you don't get the iZotope plugins...also, if you purchased SF from a third party, normally the bonus plugins aren't included. If you purchased directly from Magix, and did not receive those serial numbers, then you can submit a ticket and the sales team will make sure you get all that you need.

Noise after installing Sound Forge 14
Hi @David-Bertelli, and welcome! I work for the manufacturer, and i'm positive this is the Magix Low-Latency 2016 driver causing the issue. It is safe to remove it...this was an issue for quite a few people, and it's resolved it for all of them. Thanks!

no worries, @Rochelle-H! i remember this problem some years ago, and it ended up having something to do with the copy protection they were using at the time. this workaround should help you.

hi @Rochelle-H! you'll need to do a couple of things: 1) when you get that error, you can still save your edits by saving the track as a Sound Forge Project File (.frg)...this way you won't lose your work. 2) after you've done that, you should do a clean uninstall/reinstall of SF. When you've reinstalled, you should be good to go...and you can recall your work from before by loading that .frg (project file) again, then save as .wav or whichever file type you like. if you get an error message after that, then you'll need to submit a support ticket and they'll get you up and running. i hope that helps!

Glitches in playback
Hi @mary-o! i'm assuming you mean that you're using Magix Sound Forge Audio Studio 16 (the exact name is important, as different programs/versions have different solutions sometimes, and Sony hasn't been in the picture for quite a few years)... Most likely, you just need to make the following change in your settings: try clicking Options > Preferences > General and check the box 'Always proxy compressed formats'...this should get you up and running properly!

latest version of SF crashes with plug in chain
i can't reproduce this issue either...not with the plug-in chain from the insert menu or via the fx plugins > apply a plugin chain option. there are plenty of other issues for sure, but i can't reproduce this one on windows 11 or 10...but if you need a rollback to 15, submit a ticket, that's no problem, and it will help you avoid other issues as well.

hi @Bavanity, and welcome to the forums! yeah, there has been a bit of confusion since Steinberg changed the way their programs are registered and activated...personally, i think it's an improvement to the eLicenser they were using, but it's often a bit confusing at first when you change a system. glad you got it worked out!
