MusicMaker 2020 - audio recording problems - cut off
Hi John, This does indeed sound like something that was possibly already covered by previous posts and your YouTube video here: I already have a formal report in our system regarding this. However, I'm afraid this whole complex of audio recording problems actually needs a big overhaul and requires some fundamental changes. So, we might be looking at a more long-term solution here. 😐

Music Maker 2013 Premium file not found / some instruments won't load
Hi there, Sorry to hear about this issue. Vita (or any of the Vita-based solo instruments) complaining about not being able to access some file that is part of the sample library for that particular instrument is usually an authorisation/DRM problem with the instrument. You will probably find that the error doesn't just come up when trying to reload saved projects, but also when simply trying to use the instrument in a new project. Since we're talking about a slightly older version of Music Maker, I could especially see this being a compatibility issue with e.g. Windows 10 (albeit I have no doubt that it may have worked correctly on this same machine before). You're welcome to try the following: Instead of starting Music Maker via the usual left/double-click, right-click the program and run it as administrator.Once started this way, try using the problematic instrument(s) again, and see whether you get them to authorise correctly. That having been said, you should know that you now have an option to benefit from the improvements and new features in the newest generation of Music Maker without paying for an upgrade. MAGIX has changed the complete concept for the Music Maker product line to work like a "Freemium" model. This means there's a basic edition of the most recent Music Maker version that is available to everybody free of charge. You can download and install it from the following address: http://dl03.magix.net/musicmaker.exe This version will then continue to receive updates with improvements and new features, and will essentially always be up-to-date. Within this free version, you can unlock exactly the features, instruments and audio content you want through the built-in store system. As an owner of a previous, paid-for version of Music Maker (going back to Music Maker generation MX), you would be able to enter your existing serial number into this free version, which will give you access to the features and instruments that were part of your particular Music Maker version. So, this way, you get to use what you paid for, while at the same time getting to use the most recent Music Maker version that will work on the most recent Windows versions. Hope this helps!

Velocity Midi
Adjusting the volume after inserting doesnt make sense if you want to compose something, it just takes too much time Just to add a little piece of practical advice: You don't need to manipulate the velocity value for each MIDI note by itself using the standard select (arrow) tool in the MIDI control event editor. You should find raising the values becomes a pretty quick and easy procedure, if you use the draw (pencil) or draw line tools to level the velocity value for all notes at the very top of the chart. Alternatively, you could also do a "select all" (CTRL+A) in the MIDI Editor, and then grab one of the velocity control handles with the regular select/arrow tool. Raising it will raise all velocity events by the same value. So, one way or another, you should be able to maximise all velocity values pretty quickly. Cheers!

Converting .VIP (AS 2004) to newer version or other product
Hey there, You wouldn't have to do any conversion per se. It's essentially still the same format as before. The "Audio Studio" component that was included as part of the MAGIX "Music Studio" product line up until version 11 was a cut-down, consumer version of Samplitude. So, it would have been the predecessor of the current Samplitude Music Studio product line. There has never been a fundamental paradigm shift within the Samplitude product line when it comes to the project format, and backward compatibility should be working reasonably well. Of course, there are some limitations to that, especially when it comes to the use of plug-ins or on-board effects, some of which have changed. So, it depends on your project, what effects you used, whether you actually used any DirectX effects back then etc. However, you should definitely find that current versions of Samplitude/Music Studio will open your old VIP files and reload the referenced audio files/objects correctly (as long as they are still available). I'd recommend you just give this a shot with the trial version of SMS or Samplitude Pro. Cheers!

Music Studio 12 DeLuxe
Hi there, First of all, to answer your specific question: Your chances of successfully running Music Studio 12 on Windows 10 are probably pretty slim. This version is so old, it's not even officially compatible with Windows 7, let alone Windows 10. It think one of the main hindrances that could prevent you from running the program in the first place would be the old on-disc copy-protection, which will likely not authenticate properly on an unsupported operating system. Sorry. I think it would be more interesting to look into what problems you're having with your newer programs. Maybe it makes sense to keep Music Maker out of this discussion, since it's a completely different product line. However, any more recent version of Samplitude Music Studio (or even Samplitude Pro) would be a direct successor (and hopefully improvement) to your old Music Studio 12. So, is this just a matter of having a hard time easing into the current user interface of this product line, after skipping more than a decade in its development? To be honest, if you were a happy user of version 12, I don't really see what could have happened to the software that would qualify its current version as the "most useless product" in music production. So, if you have any more specific details regarding your problems with the software, we might be able to work with that. Thanks.

undefined external error
Hi there, Is this happening on Windows 10? If so, this most likely indicates that the program is incapable of interfacing with the sound driver for recording, due to a Windows 10 update that would have had some impact on Cleaning Lab's ability to access the sound hardware resources by changing some Windows privacy settings. The relevant settings would need to be modified again to allow the program access, as follows: - Bring up the main Settings screen within Windows.- Proceed to the "Privacy" section.- Click on "Microphone" in the left-hand list.- Modify the settings here to allow apps to use the microphone. This should resolve your problems in Cleaning Lab, resulting from the restriction on the access of the sound hardware resources. Hope this helps!

Repeat downloading of soundpools
im just going to say good luck,ive tried this so meany times it works for a couple of reboots then for me just happends again and again but tbh its worth tring Hi again @Viking.hamster As per my (currently) most recent post on the other thread, please feel free to get in touch directly with support. The procedure I outlined there has a pretty good track recording of fixing this issue. However, I'm also not surprised that someone who is actually experiencing this issue would be experiencing it repeatedly. izotope neutrino v1.0
ok feel like abit of a burke but hay nevermind,so last time i tried to install neutreno it would not install so i tried doing it outside of magix now it installed but was still unavalible in MMM2020 and wants to be installed. so just finished completly installing magix MM2020 and all content my god it took about 2 hours i have soooo meny sound pools and vst its dumb but anyway this time even though its still showing in the downoad all as not installed it is infact installed and showing under vst plugins in the mixer so yay something is fixed kinda lol. Hi @Viking.hamster Glad to hear you already managed to sort it out. I'm afraid I have to confirm that you currently have to work around the issue with the installer that MAGIX has been provided with by iZotope by using the Neutrino installer from their website. However, when you do an external installation (not via the in-app store), you need to make sure to manually point Music Maker to the location of the installed plug-in DLL after the fact. That was probably the missing piece of the puzzle. By the way, Neutrino was officially included as bonus in the 2019 Premium edition of Music Maker. It's no longer being advertised for the 2020 Premium edition, but technically still tied to those serial numbers. So, redeeming a 2020 Premium serial will still result in the item being credited to your Music Maker in-app store account and becoming available for installation (albeit with the problems discussed above...)

Hi Lee, No problem - I can provide more detailed instructions, if you do want to further look into this. Basically the "controlled folder access" I was referring to is specifically the name of a feature in Windows Defender. By default, this feature is turned off, I believe. However, if you chose to enable it at one point in time, it could be causing this problem or other conflicts. In order to turn it back off, please proceed as follows: Open the Windows Defender Security Center by clicking the shield icon in the task bar or searching the start menu for "Defender". Click the "Virus & threat protection" tile (or the shield icon on the left menu bar) and then click "(manage) ransomware protection". Set the switch for "Controlled folder access" to "Off". Once this is done, please check whether you're still experiencing the initial issue in Cleaning Lab. Hope this helps!

Store not opening- no soundpools, instruments, downloads etc
Hi Clive, I assume this was a temporary issue that's already sorted? If not, please check your local machine and network environment to make sure potentially relevant firewall and proxy settings allow the program to access the Internet, and try the "Clean up Store" button from the Music Maker program settings. (Make sure to log back into the in-app store with your customer account, once Music Maker has restarted.) Acid Pro broke MMP2019
What happens if you install ACID Pro 8 on a machine with Samplitude Pro X4 Suite? Will ACID invalidate the instruments installed by Samplitude? You wouldn't have to expect any such problem. Please also see my post above. Even with the original post, there never was a problem with one program invalidating the instruments of another one. It's just that the coexistence of the two copy-protection systems tends to produce a bit of confusion among users as to what should work and shouldn't work. For ACID and Samplitude Pro, there is no problem whatsoever, as both product lines use MAGIX' traditional DRM system ("Protein"), and thus know how to communicate between one another with regard to feature activation. There definitely isn't any problem of invalidation of instruments that have already been successfully authorised for one product line. Hope this info helps!

Hi Lee, Sorry to hear about the problems you've been having with Audio Cleaning Lab. I found your ticket in our system, and, from what I can see, it ended up with sales and was already responded to. They cancelled your order and actioned a refund, since you uttered this wish in your initial mail. I can't really say that this is a general or known issue. If I had to guess, I'd say that this is a conflict with Windows Defender's "controlled folder access" feature. Sounds like similar problems we've been having with that. If you still have the software locally installed, maybe you want to explore that option. Cheers!

Hi there, Unfortunately, there's are no such options in Cleaning Lab. What you're looking for can only be found in the more fully-featured, true multi-track DAWs, like Samplitude (Music Studio) or Music Maker. https://www.magix.com/gb/music/samplitude/samplitude-music-studio/ While I'm sure the multi-track feature in Cleaning Lab has some value for certain users and use cases, you just can't compare it to a real multi-tracker. You're welcome. Just a few additional words, to make sure you got all the right info you need to sort this out: I don't think the VEGAS or SOUND FORGE product lines would have set and used this folder - at least not in their previous and current versions. VEGAS may do so at some point in the future, SOUND FORGE probably never will, since it's not a "content product". It's going to be the traditional MAGIX video/slideshow products (Movie Edit Pro, Photostory, Video Pro X) that are going to use this globally shared folder in the future to more easily share content between applications and avoid redundancies. So, the folder may have been set into stone even just by your previous Music Maker installation (and even if you don't have any other MAGIX music programs or older Music Maker versions on your system). After uninstalling Music Maker, the content in the shared folder (instruments, soundpools) is still going to stay behind, to be used by any other suitable MAGIX music production application that you're going to install. You're not going to get another shot at customising this folder until you completely uninstall all of that content via "MAGIX Content and Soundpools", as per the instructions above.

Hi there, For the past few generations (starting in Music Maker 2013), MAGIX music programs have been using a centralised, shared location for the storage of various content components (mainly the software instruments and soundpools that come with the software or are now installed via the in-app store in Music Maker). This would be the default path for that location, containing the various sub folders for soundpools, synths etc.: C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common\ This default location can be modified via the custom installation option when installing a MAGIX program making use of that location, like Music Maker. However, here's the catch: This being a centralised, global location, it can only be changed when installing the first piece of MAGIX software that is using it on your system. After that, it's set in stone. When you run subsequent MAGIX software installations, you can still access the customised installation screen in the installer, and maybe change other relevant program folders, but you won't be able to change the location for this particular shared folder. If you really need to relocate this to a different location/drive, you'd need to uninstall all relevant MAGIX programs, and uninstall *all* of the content managed in that location via the "MAGIX Content and Soundpools" option in Windows' list of installation applications, until eventually that entry completely appears from the list. Now, if you perform a fresh Music Maker or Samplitude Music Studio installation again, you should find that you can, once again, customise the location of this global "Common" folder in the advanced installation options. Future instrument and soundpool installations through the in-app store (current Music Makers) or program installers & content downloaders (old Music Makers, Samplitude/Music Studio, ACID) will then be using the location of your choice. (MAGIX video editing and slideshow programs are now also starting to adopt this concept.) I hope this info helps!

Just one small caveat: Unfortunately, soundpools are *not* covered by this activation mechanism for practical, logistical reasons. 😭 This is what happens when you enter an older Music Maker or (Samplitude) Music Studio serial number into a current Music Maker version that uses the in-app store system: The program sends the serial number to the server, checks what product/version/edition it is, and whether that serial number is actually registered to you. (It needs to be under the same account as the one you're using to log into the in-app store system.) Once this first part is done, it uses a table on the in-app store server to look up which particular feature and software instrument items were associated with your particular old program version, and credits the matching in-app store items to your in-app store account, so those become available to you in the current generations of Music Maker. This is essentially a workaround solution to bridge the gap between the old copy-protection/DRM system (i.e. "Protein") and the new one (i.e. in-app store). Here's the problem with soundpools: Not nearly all of the soundpools included with old Music Maker versions are available as in-app store items in that shape and form. So, for many of them there is no matching soundpool that could be credited to you via the store for owning an older version. If you want to use those soundpools from your older versions, you have to get them from the older version. At least for the disc versions, this should be fairly hassle-free, as the soundpool folders are located in a sub folder of the program disc, and can simply be copied from there to your hard drive, without the need for the installation of the entire program.

A Minute with MAGIX - #02 Auto-Tune Effect
@tranceful @Jesse-Torres The "Elastic Audio" component was superseded by the more streamlined "Vocal Tune" years ago. You'd still find this in the same manner as "Elastic Audio", e.g. by right-clicking on an audio object to bring up the context menu, and going to the "Pitch & Tempo" sub menu => "Vocal Tune" option. The current hotkey is "S". In the more current product generations that use the "freemium" concept and the in-app store system (i.e. starting in version 2018 = 25.x), you'd need to make sure to own the "Plus FX" feature pack via the in-app store in order to be able to access Vocal Tune in the first place. Hi there, I checked with our sales/logistics people, and can confirm that you'd be getting a professionally pressed CD. The back-up discs would be shipping from our main warehouse and sales office in Germany now, even if you're e.g. in the US. It would be exactly the same kind of disc you'd receive with a boxes/physical copy of the same product, except for the fact that it wouldn't include a serial number as part of the disc, since that would have already been provided to you via e-mail when purchasing a download version. Music studio 12 vs Music studio 2005
Hi Andrew, Version 2005 would indeed be (two or three generations?) older than version 12. Version 12 was the first Music Studio version to actually be fully Samplitude-based, including the early Samplitude MIDI support (more than ten years ago). The version 2005 one still contains the "MIDI Studio" component for MIDI work, which was based on Logic and only licensed by MAGIX, before Logic disappeared from the Windows PC platform altogether. So, it stands to reason that it might have a few more things going on in the MIDI/VST department than older Samplitude/Music Studio versions. Anway, both versions are pretty old and not suitable for current Windows versions. Hi there, Sorry to hear about your problem. I appreciate your frustration. What you're describing sounds a lot like problems with the database that is used to manage the soundpools. It's a problem that has been described by other users before, but, so far, it has never really become clear under which circumstances this issue will occur, and why it seems to happen repeatedly for some users, but doesn't seem to happen for others. Here's a practical approach to try and resolve this: We're going to completely reset the soundpool database, which is done by manually deleting the database file in which it is managed. This will not result in any actual soundpool/loop files being deleted. It's just a reset of the database to eliminate potentially incorrect links to the loops or other faulty database entries. In order to do this, please locate the database file "SoundPoolDB.dat" in the following location on your hard drive: C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Common\Database (In order to be able to navigate there and find this file in the first place, you might need to reconfigure your Windows Explorer to show hidden folders and files first. In order to do this, open the "Organize" menu in the Windows Explorer window and go to "Folder and search options". Switch to the "View" tab in the dialogue that will come up, find the option for hidden files/folders in the list and tick the option to "Show hidden files, folders, and drives". Confirm your changes via OK and try again.) Delete the file (while Music Maker is not running), and then restart Music Maker. The "Loops" section will automatically be populated with available soundpools again. Should any soundpools that are installed in the defaut location not be listed, please open the program settings ("P" key) and trigger the rescanning of the soundpools via the "Rescan Soundpools" button in the "General options" tab. If you need to add MAGIX soundpools that are installed on your hard drive outside of the default location, use the "Add new soundpools" function (available from the cog wheel drop-down menu in the "Loops" tab), and manually point the program to the location of those soundpools.
