sound forge 16 glitching audio problem is back after upgrade

Ybstatusquo schrieb am 19.06.2022 um 19:44 Uhr

Hello, hopefully you can solve this mystery. When I upgraded to Sound Forge 16, I encountered a problem with files I was editing developing glitches in the audio(stuttering, repeating, warble). the audio plays fine when I run it thru windows audio player on my computer but when I put it into the sound forge, it makes the files I want to upgrade or clean up useless. Running windows 11 pro, with Geforce hd audio driver. Is there something I should do in the program to help prevent this? Again, I have no issues playing music with my windows media player, it's just when it loads into sound forge that the stutters and warble happen. I made a video showing what is happening. Thanks in advance for any help. Richard https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YdnV6VYPQ_sL-b8uGF8f1v8oHeqklt5k/view?usp=sharing

@Ybstatusquo I would guess, you should use another driver than your GeForce HD audio driver. I don't think that is made for audio editing.

Welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users community @Ybstatusquo,
What version of Sound Forge (Audio Studio or Pro) and build number of do you have? (see this info in the SF 'Help' menu> About). Also peruse Read the 'Sticky' at the head for the main Sound Forge forum page.
- Is the file(s) you are playing a PCM type (.wav) or a lossy type (MP3, AAC, ect).
- Are there any plug-in running (singularly or in the chainer)? SF Pro has a modal chainer and plug-ins could be running whilst not displayed in the timeline window
- Do you have an internal (soundcard) or external audio interface

Without additional info I can suggest:
> Reset Sound Forge and clear the cache (File menu)
> Enable "Always proxy compressed formats" (Options> Preferences> General")
> Try a different audio device type ("Options> Preferences> Audio> Playback") 'Ms Sound Mapper' and 'Classic Wave driver' are usually trouble-free.

btw, if you have SF Pro 16.1, that update has problems that are in the process of being fixed, (though I do not recall reports of glitching) you could try rolling back to SFP 16.0, build 79 anyway.

RRaud, I'm running the latest sound forge pro 16.1 but had issues with it before. I'm generally using it for MP3 files and audio restoration of old concerts on cassette. I have an internal sound card as well as 8tb ssd and 32gb ram. I will try the suggestions you posted to see it that works. I just found it strange that my audio seems to work fine for everything except sound forge (using Acid 10 for mixes and it has no issues).

Hi @Ybstatusquo...i also noticed some skipping with mp3 files, that wasn't happening in versions 15 or 14, but happened in 16.1. turns out i had forgot to check the 'Always proxy compressed formats' in my Options > Preferences > General window...now all is fine...please check that, as @rraud pointed out, it should sort it out. thanks!

Hi I have just downloaded SOUND FORGE Audio Studio 17. Since doing so I cannot hear anything other than a fuzzy buzzing sound coming from laptop speakers. I have used this software in the past without issues. Please help.

rraud schrieb am 20.11.2023 um 17:34 Uhr

Your description resembles the 'Magix 2016 Low Latency driver' issue, However, I do not recall that issue with AS-17 @Katie-Chaldecott-Gill. You can try removing the driver. See this comment from Magix:
https://www.magix.info/us/forum/audio-issue--1290482/#ca1738999

If this happens with MP3 and other lossy type files. first try enabling the aforementioned 'proxy' setting.

Thankyou so much for reaching out. I have managed to follow that to a point but have no option appear for clicking on software after HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

rraud schrieb am 20.11.2023 um 18:25 Uhr

Are you sure? 'Software' is a main sub-folder of the 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' category

Katie-Chaldecott-Gill schrieb am 20.11.2023 um 20:41 Uhr

Thank you rraud I have successfully deleted Magix 16 low latency driver, rebooted my laptop and the sound is now working. Many thanks for the solution.
