RE: Program not recognising my VHS player
@Brad-Wilders Hi Brad and welcome to the user to user forums. Have you tried a different USB port? Do not use a port from a USB hub. It is doubtful it will connect. Have you tried making sure the player is playing before starting the program to

RE: Suddenly Movie S is not decoding Lagarith or Huffy encoding correctly
@clement5 I get the same with MEP 2021. Incredibly annoying! The worst part was it only started happening after a while. I changed to capturing my VHS with MagicYUV, which obviously isn't much help after the fact. I reported that MEP 2022 fixed

@johny_lovin_it On the Magix.com site for Movie Studio, when you scroll down to the Subscribe options, keep scrolling down to the Upgrade and New options which are for the perpetual product of that version. John CB I found it, its $70. Not bad for

@Ove5868 This is a common problem with VHS captures, unfortunately. The culprit will almost certainly be the lack of a time Base Corrector of some type. See my response to this thread for my

Bugs are more or less fixed. Good. Nope. The backup-stealing-the-mouse-bug is still there; try doing some colour adjustments when an autobackup runs! While the Section effect no longer disappears when you change objects, MMS's handling of VHS

@Reyfox Hi, Thanks for the video about Normalizing in Vegas. It proves my point - in Vegas it's a Switch and you don't know by how much the gain was adjusted. In VPX/MMS, you do. However, in VPX, you cannot adjust the ceiling which is a

Hi Ray Yes I do remember those 'transitions', I have used some of the old TV transitions in a spoof advert I did a few years ago. @johny_lovin_it Hi Most of the animations etc in the article you linked to can be emulated in MEP/VPX. Here is a quick

RE: VHS capture quality is very poor
@CubeAce I've just noticed that the video capture file used is indeed MP4 when I'm capturing from VHS using a composite input. When I'm capturing from a Hi8 tape using an S-Video input, the capture file is MXV and there is no crosshatching in the

RE: No Video preview when transferring VHS tape to windows harddrive
@Moose The dark and mysterious world of analogue video capture beckons! Analogue capture is a non-binary thing: it depends entirely on the time, effort and money you want to throw at it. There are the perfectionists and then there are the rest of

RE: captured video very poor quality while playback on TV is perfect
@AAProds HI Alwyn, . . . . My LG 55" (2020 model) has no overscan at all: I see all of the ugly VHS headswitching noise at the bottom as well fuzzy sides. . . . Does the TV not have a setting for changing the overscan setting? . . . . don't know

RE: VHS capture quality is very poor
@cmclernon Thanks. I would proceed as JohnEB has suggested; you want absolutely the highest quality you can get, and MXV should give that to you. After you have your MXV, then you can export it to MPEG-4 as full HD. It is a pity that these manuals

@cmclernon The dreaded VHS capture. 😂 A few comments: - The colour flicker, interference and wavy edges at the top are classic symptoms of a lack of some sort of Time Base Correction. TBCs steady the video signal with a new timebase and will fix

RE: VHS capture quality is very poor
@AAProds Hi Al. I think there may be a misunderstanding here. Surely once an artifact is encoded into a file it can't then be filtered out in the ordinary sense. This is one reason I would like to see a copy of the mxv file rather than an MP4. I am

RE: captured video very poor quality while playback on TV is perfect
@Ove5868 @johnebaker @CubeAce AFAICS you are doing nothing wrong, you do not see the 'wavy edges' on a TV playing 'analog' video because there is up to 5% of the image being cropped from the sides - If you look closely, you will see that any "edge"

@AAProds @cmclernon Just a quick word on head cleaning. Do not use any isopropyl alcohol as it is not pure enough. Normally isopropyl alcohol pure enough for tape head cleaning of film cleaning is at least 99.9% pure and you get it in 250ml and
