    RE: Import video mp4
I have no problems loading my MP4's into the Arranger of Samplitude Pro X3 Suite. However, the MP4 format is a container that can contain video that is not compatible with Samplitude or even video editors. What is the source of your video files?

    RE: Record DV as MPEG
@johnebaker @Kishor-Tanna @emmrecs Hi John Ha ha! Don't get @AAProds started on this subject.....but basically I think we all agree that if you are going to do any further editing and cleaning up of the digitised VHS material it is best to start

    RE: Record DV as MPEG
@Kishor-Tanna The problem of the non-functioning DV Recording in VPX12 has indeed been raised with Magix! According to a reply I received from Support, it should be a comparatively easy task to restore the function but, as to when, who knows? If you

    RE: Record DV as MPEG
@emmrecs. Thanks for clarifying that the DV Recording facility in VPX12 is currently "non-functioning". Has this been highlighted to Magix? I expect they should fix this. The reason I opted to use DV as MPEG is to save space on the PC storage

    RE: Record DV as MPEG
@Kishor-Tanna Welcome to the Magix user to user forums. Because the DV Recording facility in VPX12 is currently "non-functioning" I use MEP 2020 to record the output of digital conversion of analogue footage, typically, VHS. I've only ever used the

    Record DV as MPEG
I have made several attempts to "Record DV as MPEG". Clicked on "Record" button; however, following forward/rewind of the tape, the "Record" button fades and the recording on the tape is played but not recording. No problem recording the recording

RE: How can I convert movie made in 2006 with BUP, VOB, IFO and MVD files?
Phew! Then you have got quite a task ahead of you to get some reasonable picture quality when starting from that point, and I would say that Neat Video plugin would be essential. I do not have it but those de-noising programs often have a sharpening

RE: How can I convert movie made in 2006 with BUP, VOB, IFO and MVD files?
@lauriemessage @emmrecs @johnebaker I just found what appears to be the original source of the 8mm files. They are on a VHS cassette. We must have copied them onto a computer in 2006 and that's how the MVD movie was created. Phew! Then you have got

@emmrecs @srpohl @johnebaker ...However, I know that @AAProds (Al) does use such files, though with a specific codec, so I have tagged him here so that he can, hopefully, offer advice based on his experience... I do and I love them (AVIs)! Let me

@srpohl Hi . . . . The first is to have an AVI, with effects, "archive" file . . . . Second is using that file to create a DVD using TMPGEnc . . . Why use a third party program to create the DVD? VPX can do this without the need for re-encoding the

@srpohl Hi Steve. Thanks for the additional information. I've never tested the "quality" of an Uncompressed AVI against that of an MPEG(-2) but my guess is that actual visible differences will be small but I also think most computers/video editing

RE: Exported AVI file is 5x the size
The purpose of the exports are two fold. The first is to have an AVI, with effects, "archive" file instead of an MPEG - a quality thing. Second is using that file to create a DVD using TMPGEnc. I realize the MPEG-2 for DVD, but I assume passing an

RE: Exported AVI file is 5x the size
@srpohl I assume you are exporting your files as "Uncompressed AVI"? If so, since your file imported from your camera will almost certainly be in DV-AVI format, itself a "compressed" format, that size difference is very much what one might expect. I

@browj2 Hi Richard, For me, in MEP2021 20.0.1.65, Takes work, sound works, effects work on the imported Takes. It would be good to have a second user validate this. A Take is just a Scene that you send to a folder - and it only contains

RE: VHS to digital via Firewire problem; MEP 2015
@Jim_H  I would probably be better off with the original DV-AVI capture, both as an archive, and as a platform for cleaning up the files for transfer to DVD? I agree with that. 👍

RE: VHS to digital via Firewire problem; MEP 2015
All, No, you can not improve picture quality purely by increasing the amount of data as you have already found, but, if you render your edited DV-AVI to a lossless codec like Lagarith or Huffyuv for archiving, the quality will not get worse. It will

@Jim_H, @browj2, @Scenestealer, @AAProds Hi I have to agree with all Peter has said in his last comment, in particular . . . . you can not improve picture quality . . . . I would add that VHS has a digital equivalent resolution of 330 x 480 px

@AAProds@AAProds @browj2 "Low quality originals require even more effort to preserve that low quality" That's verging on an oxymoron Al! 😆 Still, I think I know what you mean, but what ever Jim saves it as it is still a transcode because the ADVC300

RE: VHS to digital via Firewire problem; MEP 2015
@Jim_H If you rendered them into an AVI format (as opposed to DV-AVI) they will be bigger. DV-AVI is 13gb/hour, whereas for example Lagarith (a lossless AVI format), is 30gb per hour. It will be better quality than a comparable DV-AVI export. In

RE: VHS to digital via Firewire problem; MEP 2015
@Jim_H Hi Jim I think the confusion here is that you have captured to DV-AVI which is what the ADVC-300 converts to by default to send via Firewire to Magix and your My record folder. DV-AVI is a medium compressed format and is the same as your

@Jim_H I wasn't aware you were talking about two files that were the same Jim. Sorry. No, there is little point to having another file other than the original unless you plan some destructive editing. (not likely). The only advantage is if the
