  @stefano-bonfante, I got to thinking about this little problem and decided to try it in Reaper. Well, there was no problem at all controlling the volume of the midi record and playback from the track level. A feature AP10 should start to include.

  Make sure you didn't add any panning effects in the midi editor. This was driving me crazy until I figured out that setting the fade out via the midi was actually controlling the volume of the vst plugin. Hope this helps.
