RE: Firewire IEEE 1394 to USB 2 or 3
Having been in the Mini DV world for many years, and now transferring VHS via an analogue capture solution (in my case, an internal capture card), I would strongly strongly strongly recommend finding a Firewire PCMCIA card for your laptop. DV

@CubeAce Hi Ray MQT Reader is a video import plugin and has been around since MEP 2015, it supports the following formats: MOV, QT, DV, RAW, MMV and MP4. This was introduced with MEP 2015 so it has been around for a while. From what you have further

@Amanda-Hanson Welcome to the Magix forums. First, can you please read this post and give us ALL the details about your computer etc. From what you write it sounds as if you are saving each imported video file to the same directory/folder and that

RE: DV/AVI file only imports 1.23 seconds of 20 min
Scott, weird, because MEP loves DV-AVI! Fastest timeline in The West! That said, I think (it was years ago now) I rarely used MEP to actually capture; too unreliable. I would suggest you try changing the file from type 1 (or 2) to the other

DV/AVI file only imports 1.23 seconds of 20 min
I captured appx 20 min of footage via DV import(record) into MEP. However, when I drag the file to the timeline, it only gives me 1.23 seconds of the file no matter how I import it. My .MOV files and such work fine, just not the DV/AVI...Why am I

RE: Recording from mini-DV camcorder - how to change field order?
My final destination is DVD, which I make with Adobe Encore. When I'm done editing with MEP, I export the clips as MPEG (Standard DVD PAL Widescreen). This setting makes the clips ready for Encore and I don't have to transcode them in Encore. I did

RE: Recording from mini-DV camcorder - how to change field order?
Thank you again for your replys! John: The DV AVI capture dialog doesn't seem to have an option, where I could manually choose the field order. But the DV as MPEG dialog has such an option! So I'll try to capture the material as MPEG/bff. Hopefully

RE: Recording from mini-DV camcorder - how to change field order?
@MikaS Hi I do not have a Firewire device on my PC, however you should find more advanced settings available in the DV capture dialog where there may be an option to manually select BFF - see page 89 onwards in the PDF manual available under

RE: Recording from mini-DV camcorder - how to change field order?
Hi John, thank you for your answer. All the cassettes are standard DV, recorded with the same Sony camcorder. And the strange thing is that MEP captures some of them as bff (correctly?) and some as tff (incorrectly?). And I would like to know if

RE: Recording from mini-DV camcorder - how to change field order?
@MikaS Hi . . . . I assume that DV-AVI PAL should be bottom field first . . . PAL can be either, are you are mixing 2 different sources of video and resolution eg standard DV and HD video? DV (720 x 576 pixels) is bottom field first (BFF), HD (1280

After much research the problem is resolved, one of the cameras was only DV and the second is HDV and the material in the tapes is mixed sometimes and sometimes is only DV or HDV and because that the program gets confused and prompt error that is

@HakanHiko Welcome to the Magix forums. I import DVD footage via firewire from various DV cameras quite regularly, and that Driver information screen always shows "Microsoft DV device" and not the camera/device name. Try setting yours to that

RE: File organisation
@devil Hi, When you use MEP to import, you are doing so in a project. MEP doesn't know what you want to call the project unless you tell it. By default, MEP proposes today's date. When you import, you are actually making a digital version of the DV

RE: Possible to use HDMI for video capture?
If you cannot get the Firewire working, then as the HV30 has a Composite video/audio output you can use a USB video capture device such as a Terratec Grabby. with MEP. Yes but that would only give you Standard Definition video. HV30 records DV / HDV
